Buy a hearty sandwich and a drink, go sit outside and if you are lucky, the buggies will go by and you can wave at Amish teens out on the streets. Now marvel at their ability and desire to be outside and independent while back in civilization people freak if a kid is outside playing ball in the street without an armed guard. Terrific food, nice nice people to talk to even if we have a million things not in common at all. I love the quiet. I love how the neighboring horses go silly when they see a horse-and-buggy coming. Now pop back in and take some coffee cake and a savory tartlet for later. I'll be back soon soon.

Shiloh General Store draws customers from great distances especially from the close cities and the mountain areas. The bread is fresh and made daily, the sliced meats and cheeses are the tastiest you can buy, and the cinnamon buns and pies are terrific. There is a nice porch and a few tables outside to enjoy lunch. The store carries all types of fresh ingredients for baking breads,, making soups, a huge selection of jellies and jams, and so many other things that it would be impossible to mention them all. I'm lucky enough to live nearby and visit weekly. Definitely worth the trip from anywhere!

Sourdough rolls, hot from the oven, fresh bread for the excellent sandwiches, doughnuts so light and fresh that they almost levitate. Go here and stand in line, get your sandwiches and go to the wineries-most have great picnic spots and REALLY good wine. Some of our favorites were Raffaldini, Windsor Run(for Port), Flint Hill, Cellar 4201 and Shelton(be sure to eat here).

My husband and I visited on Saturday, August 30, 2014. We both had a deli sandwich which was wonderful. My husband called the day before to order doughnuts since those sell out really quick from other reviews I read. They had the donuts waiting on us with our name on it. Those are delicious treats. There were 3 Amish ladies working in the deli/kitchen area and an Amish man worked the front counter/cash register. We purchased many Amish items to take back home. We are looking forward to our next visit. We plan to take our children.

This place is an absolute diamond in the rough! You can buy fresh baked donuts, bread, cookies, jam, jellies, spices, etc, etc. The list just goes on and on. You can also order deli sandwiches and chips for lunch, and don't forget to grab a cold drink out of the ice box. Then take it outside and sit in the shade out in the chairs on the front porch or at the picnic table. Oh, and if you're into ice cream don't forget to get some of that too! This place is usually packed and the aisles aren't very wide so sometimes it's hard to move around in there, so don't come if you're in a rush! Well worth the trip out there. We love this place!

I didn't have a lot of time here, but WILL definitely go back. There was so much to look at and I would like to try more of their homemade goodies. I bought the Strawberry Rhubard Jam and it is delicious. Also had a Whoopie Pie....lol......homemade version of a Moon Pie!

Located in the heart of NC's New Order Amish community near Union Grove, Shiloh Store will give you a glimpse of Amish life, without the expense of driving to Ohio, Pennsylvania, or even Virginia. The store carries bulk goods, baked goods, handmade sandwiches, Books, Amish Quilts, drinks, home-made molasses and a variety of products you probably won't find on the Food Lion shelves. The friendly folks who run the store will be happy to try and answer any questions about the products, or about the way they live, which is not necessarily exactly the same as Amish in Indiana, Ohio, or elsewhere. You may hear them converse among themselves in German, but will be happy to address you in English.Be aware, the store is CLOSED on Sundays. It would be a longish drive out there from most of NC's cities, and I'd hate to see you disappointed. I believe Saturdays are when the donuts are made, and I am quite fond of them; they are a little heavier and chewier than most folks are used to. Think in terms of Krispy Kremes on steroids.... They'll make a deli sandwich right on the spot for you, if you like, but I usually go for the sugar fix.You will note, as you get on the two-lane roads in the community, the bright yellow signs with a horse drawn vehicle indicating that those are used in the area; please be careful as the roads often wind and go over hills, and you can easily run right up on top of one of the buggies, often full of children, before you know what is happening. They move VERY slow, compared to autos.Enjoy your visit to Shiloh, and there are several other smaller stores in the area that you may want to check out while you're in the area.

I'm so glad we found this little store. It's a very nice place with lots of homemade goodies and unique gifts. The doughnuts are to die for. It's off the beaten path but so worth the drive, which by the way is gorgeous. Will definately go back again and again.

Shiloh General Store is a wonderful gem located near several of the Swan Creek Wine Trail wineries. Be sure to stop here for delicious baked bread, donuts (all made in house but only available early), canned goodies, and more.

A pearl in the field, this store is like no other. Fresh spices, pickles, jams, baking products and fresh baked donuts on Saturday. No bar codes, people were very friendly and polite. If you are looking for a rare find for someone who likes to eat, this is the place that you can get unique gifts.

We drive 70 miles round trip to buy deli meats, canned vegetables, preserves, and specialty foods we can't find anywhere else. The fried apple pies are delicious. So glad we found this place years ago.

We are blessed to live very near Shiloh General Store, and are able to visit often. This is an Amish store and sometimes the hours can be a bit odd (different holidays cause unexpected closures) but I would recommend a trip if ever in the Iredell/Wilkes/Yadkin County area. The folks that run the store are incredibly nice. The breads that they bake are amazing, and going at lunch time means getting a wonderful sandwich made. My favorite things there are the sweet baked goods. Fried pies to die for, pecan and german chocolate tarts (those are my favorite flavors, but they have many others), whoopie pies, cakes and pies. Oh my, it's a sweet treat paradise! And all homemade! Who could ask for better? They also carry a variety of bulk items, mixes for dips, soups, breads, etc. It's a small store and can get crowded at times, but we love it! And the rockers on the porch are a wonderful spot to while away some time with a treat or some ice cream on a pretty day.

I've lived near the Amish in Ohio and this brought back memories of visiting their country store. The homemade sandwiches were superb! The store was crowded but as someone said this is the sign of good business. I loved being able to stock up on some cooking products by bulk. Just a great overall experience.

A must stop if you are looking for home made pies, jams, breads, etc. This is an Amish run store and like stepping back in time when you walk through the front door. I bought a pecan pie and finished it off in one day.
