We always stop heading in and out of the Outer Banks. So many pinball and video game options. Also skee ball. The greatest pinball machine Medieval Madness can be found there.

If you like to play pinball this is your place! They have tons of machines, and they get new ones in all the time. I was just there for their "Big Fall Pinball Tournament". They had limited edition machines along with new ones like THE WALKING DEAD pinball machine. If you want to know what the life of a pinball wizard is like, then spend a day honing your skills at this wonderful arcade. You won't leave disappointed.

I stop here just about every time I'm driving to OBX now. The sheer number of machines make the stop worth it. We are talking like dozens and dozens of pinball machines here. Most are in great working order but some are broken, thus the minus one star. I imagine it is fairly difficult to maintain this many machines and have them working perfectly every day.

This place is a pinball lovers dream come true. I am guessing more than 50 pinball machines ranging from very old to brand new. Although pinball is the main attraction they do have pool tables, snack bar, convenience items, and plenty of general arcade games. My kids will gladly sacrifice xbox time to go here. The three of us can easily spend 2 hours here on a Jackson. I did get to meet the owner some time back and found out that collecting pinball machines was really more of a hobby than a passionate business. Having said that, I still have always found the machines in good repair and the staff helpful.

One of the best collections of pinball and classic arcade games on the East Coast! For a complete list of games see https://pinside.com/pinball/map/where-to-play/flippers-variety-store-arcade-2483-grandy-nc-united-states

I live on the Outer Banks and have made a few trips up to Grandy just for Flippers. The spectacle of walking into room after room of vintage pinball machines is amazing. Sure, there are a few of them that have some glitches (hey, pinball and video games are famous for those kinds of quirks)! But what really strikes me when I walk in is that clearly someone has a love for all kinds of arcade games from every decade and keeps them restored and playable for all to enjoy. From (my favorite) the 70s baseball pinball game to Galaga to foosball to skeeball to Dance Revolution to plain old pool tables. I've brought 12 year olds, 20 somethings and of course the two of us in our 50s and there's been something for everyone. I see riding games for the toddlers too. If a favorite game from a favorite decade is not powered up, they'll power it up for you! I found out I still had the touch enough to win a few games too! What a find. Sure, plan to drop some money while you're there but it's not much different than the cost of a movie for entertainment.

If you like, love, or even have a hint of interest in arcades and pinball you need to stop by Flippers! The sheer visual experience of seeing ~50 pinball machines lined up and lit up is an amazingly rare experience these days. The owners are very nice, so feel good about dropping some coin here(no pun intended) and supporting the wonder that is Flippers Arcade!Pay no attention to the negative reviews. Those folks clearly have ants in their pants. If you ever have a problem with a game the attendants are happy to help. However in my experience this is rare. I've been to Flippers at least 30 times with friends and family. All the games are in great shape and the workers are excited for your business. This is a well-run small business sharing their passion for good fun and arcades.

This random gas station/Variety store on the way to the Outer Banks NC must have a pinball machine collection in the top 3 locations in the USA. I commute from Norfolk VA weekly to play in the pinball league and from what we can figure it might be the best public location in the USA. There are locations with more machines by number but not as high end by title (in Vegas and NH.) PAPA in Pittsburgh beats Flippers but it's only open twice a year for events and you know, is 8 hours away.I think all but one or two of the machines are on 50 cents a play, the ones that are 75 cents are very expensive new titles (Wizard of Oz is the only one that comes to mind.) From time to time machines have issues but we write down a report and put it in the suggestion box and they tend to get fixed. Most of the league players own a few personal machines and we understand they take quite a bit of upkeep. Flippers has a huge number of limited edition Stern machines which you don't usually find in public locations, as well as some of the top titles from Williams/Bally. I can't speak for the prize games up front that others are commenting on as I've only played them a few times. Games do rotate from time to time, although the hot title pinball machines seem to always stay. The pinball community is pretty aware of the place. I was googling to figure out what the name of the road is that Flippers is on and ran across the negative reviews and figured I should give some additional info.

I am a local. I am writing this review knowing many tourist must stop in here on their way to the outer banks. every game I put my tokens into was broken. my son had luck with 2 games. when you walk in you are surprised by how many games they have. don't let this fool you. none of them work. when I took my handful of tokens to the counter to exchange back for my money they refused. I was not even trying to get my tokens back for the games that didn't work. I simply didn't want to put any more money in their machines. I explained to them. they did not care. when I asked if there was a sign stating no refunds they said no but they do not give them. at that point we decided to put our tokens into a machine and spin for tickets thinking this would be the best option. when machine landed on 25 but said 10 and only gave 10 tickets I told the lady and her response was it needs to be calibrated and she walked off with her less than friendly attitude. the only way this place will make money is to keep your money on their broken down games. do not waste your time. it is awful. I have been passing by this place for years. it was a rainy day yesterday and I thought why not stop in and check it out. what a waste. wish I had just passed it by again.

My wife and step son went in for some games. The first three she put tokens in didn't work. The dance game was missing the mat/platform. The shooting game gun didn't work. So she tried to just get a refund on the unused tokens and the employees said no. Then she asked about the broken games that took the tokens, and again the answer was no refunds. She asked if that was posted somewhere and they said no, just the rule. She said she wanted to complain to the owner but he wasn't available. She asked how they could be ripping people off with broken games and no refunds and the said they didn't know the games were broken, but as they were walking in she overheard a conversation about several games no working. When she asked about the conversation the employees told her that was the owner. Grandy may not have a lot to offer, but anything is better than this rip off spot.
