The Arts Council brings to "Captain White's" some wonderful exhibits (such as the Seward Johnson sculptures and the Art of the Brick exhibits in recent years) which complement the rotating displays of local works. The Picasso gift shop is a great place to pick up a unique gift for anyone. Add to that live music, classes, and theatrical performances and you'll know why we value this organization's contributions to our community.

Who would believe that you'd find a first-class art venue in a small city! Actually, Graham is more a town than a city, even though it's the county seat. The Arts Council presents a wide variety of activities and classes, from ballroom dancing classes to painting to a writer's group, as well as a full roster of classes for children. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly; the gift shop is wonderful; and some of the exhibits are breathtaking. Proud to be a member.

There is a world-class show happening now at the Alamance Arts Council through October. My daughter and I visited and were pleasantly surprised by the show, the staff and the venue. The restored Queen Ann-style Victorian home, called the Captain White House, is well suited to display art of any caliber, even "The Art of the Brick" which CNN lists as one of the top ten must exhibits - worldwide. The galleries have high ceilings, tall windows with wavy antique glass and eager docents.Another plus is that it shares the same parking lot with the Children's Museum which is another surprising find!
