We had a wonderful tour! Our guide was enthusiastic about her company and job. Didn't know just how far around the world their cookies traveled and how many cookies they actually produced for Christmas delivery! We were glad to see that some items are still made the old-fashioned way by hand! Marcie T

If your in the area you should stop and get some of these cookies. Family permed business. My parents always brought these home when I was a kid. You can order online too.

Stopped in after hearing about their cookies. After entering and taking a deep breath, I knew I was in the right place. The aroma was wonderful. The gentleman at the counter offered us some samples. They were all just great! You can order cookies and they have pottery to sell, also. Everyone was so nice. They factory is a little ways out in the country but the drive was nice. You can order online if you don't want to drive. (www.HanesCookies.com)

Great taste and great product. Shipping was rapid and there are no complaints. Have reordered. I do recommend this company.

Handrolled thin cookies with great flavor...Manual process makes for pricey quality. Watching the ladies hand roll the cookies was interesting. Several flavors available. Great Family Business

My cousin sent me cookies from Mrs. Hanes' store and another well known factory. NO question which was better. The ones from Mrs. Hanes's store were crisp and fresh and the other factory sent stale cookies. I love the ginger cookies and love having them at Christmas. Now I want to visit the factory.

As a native of Winston-Salem, but a longtime resident of Georgia, I purchase Moravian sugar cookies from Mrs. Hanes every year. Friends start asking about the cookies in October, and I assure them they will be receiving some this year too. I always get the sugar cookies, but the ginger cookies are the original, traditional Christmas flavor. Sugar and ginger are the long time favorites, although Mrs. Hanes does offer other flavors, it would not be Christmas without these two flavors.(I am not crazy about the other flavors, but the lemon is ok.) If you are in Winston-Salem, take the pretty drive out to her factory and watch the cookies being made, and have a taste of all the flavors. My children loved doing this since they got to try fresh baked cookies! Once you try them, you will keep coming back! They are especially good with a butter cream icing if you want to host a cookie decorating party- something I did for over 20 years. You just have to eat the iced cookies quickly! The cookies are so thin that they lose their crunch when iced. This, however, will not be a problem for you will eat them right up!

I live just minutes away from Mrs. Hanes Moravian Cookie Factory, which is a real plus. I can get them anytime I need or want them. They are delicious. The Factory tour is very "simple", but its a real treasure to have in my "back yard". Mrs. Hanes is one of the many places on my list to visit anytime I have out of town guests. The cookies are rolled, cut and packaged by hand, "special treatment". It's fun to watch, through the window, while the ladies work away. If you want cookies for Christmas, or shipped to family and friends for the holidays, get them early !!! All the different flavors are good, none better than the Sugar cookies, however I do like the Black Walnut too. As one of the other reviewers said...The cookies are a Christmas Tradition...but good any time of the year. I recently took some up north to Pennsylvania to friends that had never even heard of them...they were a HUGE HIT !(The picture shown by Tripadvisor is of Salem College in Winston Salem NC, not Mrs. Hanes Factory)

Mrs. Hanes' cookies are a favorite of mine. I always take them to out of state friends when I visit and everyone loves them. They have adorable shaped cookies for holidays and my granddaughters and I wrap up a few and use them as name tags for the holiday dinner table. Our favorite are the turkeys for Thanksgiving.FYI: The photo that is shown is not Mrs. Hanes factory. However, it is a fun place to visit and watch the cookies being rolled out while you shop. Be sure to check the hours they are baking. I have gone there and was disappointed when there where no cookies being made.

If you like cookies this is the place to go. Thin, crispy, yummy, just need a glass of cold milk. They have samples of all of their cookies to try. It isn't just Moravian Spice Cookies and Sugar cookies (which happen to be my favorite) but there are also lemon, black walnut, etc. It helps when you are trying to make a decision from all these cookies to be able to have samples. Especially if you have never experienced the thin, delicate, crispy flavors. We always take out of town guest by and they are happy that they went even thought they have an arm full of cookies, a potential bigger waist and a lighter purse! We love that this is a Family owned Operated bussiness. FYI, try to go when they are baking. They have glass windows so that you may watch the Ladies make these cookies

Always great cookies - doesn't seem like Christmas without them! I take them out of state to relatives.

Mrs. Hanes' Cookies are a Winston-Salem area institution, especially when the Christmas season starts to roll around. Not only are their traditional spice molasses cookies superb, but they have taken this thin, delightful cut cookie to new heights with sugar cookie, lemon, black walnut, chocolate and other varieties over the years. Mrs. Hanes' is the "go-to" place for me when ordering a Christmas gift for out of town relatives who yearn for that touch of home during the holidays...and shipping is always reasonable and timely. A visit to their great little shop and cookie making factory is a delighful hour or so. Sample the cookies, see them being baked, take home a pound or two. Enjoy...the locals do and keep on coming back!!

See how these paper-thin cookies are still made by hand in the traditional Moravian manner. Windows let you view into the production area. Quite fascinating and delicious. Small shop.

Hanes cookie factory makes cookies year round. And are always really busy during the holidays because their cookies are a wonderful tastey treat for gifts or for your own snacking. During the Christmas holidays it's best to stock up early because they do eventually run out of certian popular flavors!
