Clean, easy, fun, helpful staff. came w/ a 4 and 6 y/o and bought 2 kids buckets for less than $20 and they came home w/ a ton of "gems" that they are still enjoying after coming home. Was totally worth it and convenient as part of a day to Chimney rock. 2 thumbs up!

We have been to this particular gemstone mining company three times, and it never disappoints! We've tried others in the surrounding area and they were no where near as clean and professional as this company. The staff are always friendly and helpful, explaining what types of gems we've uncovered in our bucket. There are plenty of spots for everyone to spread out, too. We usually can find a coupon on their website, so check it first. We usually spend about 30-45 minutes there with the a five-gallon bucket of sand and gems. After several years we had accumulated enough gems that we had to get a tumbler to polish them! Can't wait to see what we "find" this year! We usually walk down to the river afterwards for lovely back drops for family photos.

A pretty simple, straightforward concept:1. Pay for a bucket pre-filled with dirt and gemstones (price dependent on size of bucket).2. Sit down at the makeshift flume.3. Sift through the sand to find gemstones to take home or to take upstairs and have jewelry made out of them. They guarantee that you will find at least one per bucket, but we found at least ten. I would probably only recommend this for children as most adults tend to be lackadaisical about such simple tasks.

We took our 8 yr old here and we all had a great time. All the staff at the mine and upstairs in their store were very pleasant and helpful. The price is comparable to all gem mining places, but the gems we mined were actually better then some of the ones we have done in other towns. Close to food, bathrooms, mini-golf ......great little town on the river.

We took our son with some friends and they had a great time. The place is very clean and near the river. Prices are average.

My wife and I had a 10 percent off coupon for the Chimney Rock Gemstone Mine and tried it during a recent weekend stay in the area, It is located down a flight of steps under one of the Gem Mine gift shops on the river side of the street. They have different size buckets ranging in price from 15 dollars to 150 dollars. We got a family bucket and we both shoveled out of it. Shaking the wire screen strainer in some flowing water was a lot more fun than I was expecting. There were some very pretty gem rocks in different colors and sizes that were sifted from the sand. We both had a plastic zip lock bag almost full of good size gem stones when we were through. Lots of fun for adults and children.

This was a birthday outing for me, and it was fun! I 'found' a bunch of gems in my bucket and I'm even having jewelry made from a beautiful Tiger Eye piece. And, Sarah was very helpful with all her expertise of every gem.

I took my son (he is 9) over Spring Break to Chimney Rock for a day of hiking and sight seeing. He asked to go Mining and I found the Chimney Rock Gemstone Mine online. The staff was friendly and always available with helpful information on what we were finding. The price was $25 for about a 2 gallon bucket of dirt. The highlight of the Mining was the baseball size crystal we found in the bucket. They have great riverside hiking trails and good access to parking. Plan on psending about an hour to 90 minutes.
