This is a fairly new shop in the beautiful updated downtown of Apex. Classes of all kinds are offered and there is usually a group of women just relaxing and spending time in the lounging area while they work on their individual projects of knitting or crocheting.

Downtown knits opened a few years ago and I have been meaning to review it for all my fellow travelling knitters. If you are in the area of Apex, NC (resident or visitor) and you are into any fiberarts, Downtonwn Knits is a place to come and visit. Michelle the owner is wonderful, welcoming and extremely knowledgeable on all things fiber related. The shop is fully of wonderful yarns which range from cotton to cashmere with everything in between. She carries quite a variety of locally produced and/or dyed yarns for those of you looking for just the right 'souvenir' yarn. The shop has a clean, spacey and modern feel but is warm and welcoming. There is a 'lounge' in the back complete with 2 sofas a variety of chairs and a coffee table as well as a sitdown table and chairs. Friday nights are the 'knit nights' with crocheters, knitters and everythiing else coming together to craft and talk and laugh. Downtown Knits offers a good variety of classes for those interested in expanding their crafting horizons. All the supplies, equipment and knick knacks you could ever want are there for you. Downtown Apex is a lovely little area with many independent shops, galleries and restaurants. There is something for everyone and a walk up and down the streets after visiting Downtown Knits will surely leave you happy to have come there.Definitely make the time to visit this lovely shop. You won't be disappointed.
