It's small, the hours are iffy and it "feels" like someone's garage collection. But, don't let that stop you. There are museums all-over the place that have been blessed with big marketing budgets, endowments and paid staff that don't have HALF the interesting items as the SDNGM.Original weapons, vehicles, artifacts...and in an arena where anyone that is working there will likely give you a personal tour on account of the fact that they are working out of passion rather than punching a clock. The Sherman tank and A-7 are extraordinarily accessible because they're right out front but the weapons and militaria inside are worth calling ahead to confirm open-hours - expect to see weapons from the U.S., Britain, Germany, Japan, Russia...The reason for 5 stars is because people who seek this kind of place out tend to look past polish and those that might pass-by on account of it looking closed or smallish need the motivation to call-ahead and take the time to really see the amazing history inside.

This museum is a unique showcase of military relics, uniforms, equipment, and vehicles (planes, tanks, etc).

although small, the museum contains artifacts from past wars and their connections to South Dakota. Well presented.
