Spearfish Canyon is one of the nicest rides or drives in the Black Hills. Make sure you stop at Bridal Veil Falls and the Big Falls at the lodge. There are many places to pull out and dip your feet in the creek. Don't rush this drive/ride. Take your time and enjoy what you have in front of you.

It was so pretty driving up. My family goes up all the time and extra amazing during the fall. I highly recommend going up even if just part way. Be careful on the curves.

Never get tired of driving through the Spearfish Canyon! It seems like you're in another world! It's hard to describe just how magnificent it really is. We went in the winter, so many of the waterfalls were only a trickle because of being frozen, but they were still beautiful.

The best part of this scenic view is the different waterfalls along the stretch. One is right off the road but not much to see. Another is a 1 mile hike to or you can drive to the top. Very pretty hike and waterfall. The third is a fun hike as well. Well worth it for a taste of nature.

I have been through here all time of the year. ALWAYS a great drive. Huge goats when you find them. See the Roughlock Falls from the movie Dances with wolves .

The most beautiful drive in the world! There are the beautiful mountains and pine trees. There is the wonderful creek and several incredible picnic area. There is also Roughlock falls and Bridal Vail falls that are very beautiful and relaxing. If possible, visit during the fall when the leaves turn colors. The canyon becomes alive with color. Watch for the abundant wildlife.

This scenic byway was well worth the detour! Easy access from I-90, this 20-some mile byway's immense cliffs are spectacular! There are also a couple of waterfalls (Roughlock Falls and Bridal Veil Falls) along the way, one (Bridal Veil) of which can be seen from 14A. Final scenes of the movie "Dances With Wolves" was filmed in this area.

The Scenic Byway through Spearfish Canyon is easy to access from both Lead and Deadwood. It's a great drive and doesn't take too long. Well worth the trip.

Make sure you stop and do the waterfalls- Roughlock Falls and Spearfish Falls, a bit of a hike but well worth it!

Spectacular scenery beyond words! We toured this area in advance of our wedding in Spearfish. We could not have chosen a better location. Around every bend was oohs and awes. This is a route to take time and enjoy every bit of nature. Will definitely be back.

I have been up and down this highway many times over the years and it never fails to amaze me with its scenic beauty. I is a very relaxing ride on a motorcycle especially when the weather is hot as it is very cool along the road with runs beside Spearfish Creek. There are many pull offs where if you are so inclined you can walk down and put your feet in the cold water to further cool off. Great scenery, curvy road with a nice stop at Crossings where you can shop or get a cold drink. Worth the time to drive it.

Drove through here at a great time of year to see the leaves changing. Not much traffic on the road and lots of pull outs to enjoy the views.

nice road to drive up spearfish canyon, a few stopping points to take pictures, when you get to the top there are a few restaurants at a fork in the road , make sue you stop and walk down , uneven path be careful, to view spearfish falls and the river. takes about 5 minutes to walk down.

In my opinion this is the most beautiful and least touristed part of the Black Hills..AThe high rock canyon walls are magnificent any time of the year. It is a great way to travel from Deadwood to Spearfish or vice versa, only about 35 minutes. About halfway on the byway, at Savoy, take the 1 mile gravel road (or 1 mile hike from the Spearfish Canyon Lodge parking lot) to Roughlock Falls, well worth the effort.
