Surly afternoon from the state park, Captain Richard provided a thoroughly entertaining and educational afternoon. Full of stories about the history, neighbors, wildlife and dynamic habitat of the lake, time went too quickly. Watch the weather and be sure to dress accordingly, the vessel does have curtains that could be lowered but passengers would miss a lot. Ask questions if Capt. does not notice what you do & he should have the answer and perhaps a story about your adventure. Again, time went too quickly. Will take the tour when we are back in the area.

Captain Richard was a delight, full of wonderful information about the area and many stories to share. He was friendly, personal, and strived to make the experience pleasurable and comfortable for all. We spent quite a bit of time exploring Stumphole Swamp and saw a number of birds, including osprey, egrets, great blue heron, and coots. We really enjoyed our afternoon and highly recommend the experience. Beautiful and informative!

Fantastic experience! My second trip on the lock and dam tour. I thought I might be disappointed but that was definitely not the case. Captain Richard is not only knowledgable, but also extremely entertaining. The tour is generally the same, but the captain takes advantage of any interesting sights along the way. Therefore every tour is unique. Would highly recommend this tour.

If you just want a great day trip from Columbia or Charleston or you are staying for a while in Santee, you definitely want to take this tour. Captain Richard is knowledgeable, entertaining, patient, and very personable. He knows so much about the lakes and the surrounding areas. The beauty of the lake and the swamp area we toured can not be conveyed in the pictures uploaded (it was difficult to choose only three). It is something that must be experienced in person. We saw so many birds and turtles! We got on at the Wyndham resort an rode the short distance to the State Park to pick up others. The tour lasts about 2 hours and is very reasonable. We plan to come back in the fall to take another tour.

We took this tour today after reviews on TripAdvisor, and we are so glad we did. Everything you have read about Richard rings true~~knowledgeable, outgoing, and very personable. Richard is in no hurry to end the tour, and he has such a wide range of information, with humor on the side. Richard takes time to learn & remember your name. His tour is a great value, and a must-do while in Santee. You will see many beautiful sights!

We chose this tour before we even left our home in Ohio because of the positive reviews on TripAdvisor. Richard was very prompt with email correspondence to arrange our tour, and I knew from his emails and phone conversations that he was going to be a pleasure to deal with. He gave us so much wonderful information about the area, the history and wildlife of Santee. It is obvious how much pride he has in this area, and we would recommend this tour to everyone. You will not be disappointed. He was very accommodating to the guests, offering blankets if we were cool, and helping us find great photo opportunities. One that was especially good was seeing an osprey bring a fish out of the water and take it to a tree to have its meal, and he got us close enough to get some really great shots. Our teenager was especially intrigued by the alligator info and on-board anatomy lesson. If we return to the area we would definitely take this tour again, as I'm sure no two tours are alike with all the wildlife in the area. Captain Richard is a true example of a southern gentleman and we couldn't have been more pleased with our experience!

Richard was fantastic and the tour was all and more that was promised. We started from our Wyndhan resort and then took a 30 minute jaunt over to Santee State Park. All the while, Richard was telling us history of the park and the area.On the trip we saw at least 3 or 4 ospreys, and 2 bald eagles perched high up in the trees. The history that Richard provided as we boated our way around Lake Marion was perfect. Highly recommend.

The trip was excellent both for seeing wildlife as well as history of the area. He is a local person who likes to share his love of the area.

Although I had lived in this area for six months when I finally called Fisheagle in April for information, I learned so much about the geography, the industry, and the wildlife of South Carolina as a whole. As another passenger said, "It's obvious that this man loves the water, the area and the passengers he generously sails around Lake Marion." I hope to catch a Lake Moultrie voyage before leaving sweet Santee and my favorite Carolina Captain! All aboard!

My wife and I visited Santee, SC, In July 2013 and decided to take the swamp tour with Captain Richard. The boat is a large pontoon and we set off for the swamp. Captain Richard gave us lots of info about the area and we saw lots of Ospreys - in fact about 20 during the trip. The swamp area of the lake (Marion) is interesting and there are plenty of birds and a lot of weed. At one point we treid to go through a patch to get up close to a huge Osprey nest and the weeds got caught round the propeller. The Captain and two of us managed to get the weeds free and carried on. I understand why the Captain was a little concerned about this my wife was almost crying with laughter but managed to stifle it.

Wonderful experience! 2 hour boat tour out of Santee State Park. Richard was very inviting and knowledgeable of the wildlife and lakes. Would go again anytime and suggest this to anyone. Even if you live in the area, I would suggest you go as you may learn something you didn't know. Beautiful sites to see from the lake to the wildlife
