Hagood Mill is opened the 3rd Saturday of every month, on some of the Saturdays they have special events. If you go to the mill when it's open on the 3rd Saturday there are people there who can tell you about the corn and how it works, they might be grinding corn for grits or corn meal. There are several other machines on site; a cotton gin and a still. The Mill is near my home so we go over there several times a month to walk the nature trail or to walk the trail they have across the road. Hagood Mill is a great place to take family pictures or pictures for special occasions. It's also a great place for a picnic.

The site was not open but you could walk the grounds. Found a very nice trail to hike and took some photos.

The Haygood Mill is a magnificent piece of Americana just off the Cherokee Foothills Parkway in Upstate South Carolina. Visitors can step back in time to a more tranquil agricultural era visiting a working water powered grain mill. A great place to bring the kids for a living history lesson or for couples to enjoy a moment of romance at the old steel bridge also located on the site. Don't pass up the gift store where you can purchase flour ground on the millstone at the mill.

This is a gem! Walking trails with period costumed characters in the blacksmith shop, the gin and other shops. Fun for all ages. Come for an hour, stay for two.

We went here on a rainy Friday. Would like to have gone on the third Sat. of the month when everything is running and they have demonstrations of how things use to work.

Stopped by on the way up to a stay at Table Rock St. Park on Friday. Loved it so much, we brought our niece's family back today (Sunday). Was really hoping the historical buildings would be open to view this time, which would've made for a 5***** rating -- & bathrooms would've been nice, too -- but it made for a wonderful little hike & picnic anyway. Hope to catch it open sometime! Very nice setting & structures.

Besides the historical information and things to see, this is a wonderful place for family pictures.

We have been to Hagood Mill the past two times we'd been in SC and both times the Mill was closed although it was a Saturday and should have been open. This time we brought our entire family and got very disappointed that they were again closed. We were able to view the Cabins and Mill as the doors were not locked. It is a beautiful place - very well kept and clean. It is a shame that the volunteers needed to keep the place open are not available on the weekends?

Hagood Mill has been a hidden pleasure for many years in Pickens County. The 3rd Saturday each month is a wonderful venue of musical talent, stories and old time crafts. If you have never been make time to come and see the flour, corn oats ground and buy a bag of Good grits.

Pickens County and its citizens is to be highly commended for this place that commemorates and keeps the area's heritage alive. The things they have reconstructed there are a good reminder of how industrious and "farm smart" people had to be just to live, even only a generation ago. This is essentially a county park with interesting and educational recreations of what life was like for the Greatest Generation and their parents and grandparents before them. A lovely way to spend a few hours on a quiet stroll.

The mill is interesting and the grounds are well maintained. The attendant in the gift shop is friendly and welcoming. This is a pleasant little stop in a peaceful little corner of the world. And a clean restroom stop.

This is Western SC farming from the early eighteenth century along with the grain mill taht was run on this site from the fast running mountain streams that provided year round water, since this area did not have the severe cold weather and have freezing of the streams as was prevelent just "over the mountain" in NC
