With a small kid and two dogs Andrew Jackson State Park is good for some time out of the house , with a good enough trail to tire two Labradors.

Lovely park! Shaded walking trails, big lake to fish/paddleboat/canoe in, big playground, and FANTASTIC museum! The Park Rangers are so friendly & knowledgable. The museum is small but highly educational. Hands on things for the kids (dress-up) and GREAT videos and photos that marvelously teach about our 7th US President, the Cherokee Trail of Tears, and early life in the Waxhaws. Great day trip!

What a nice park in Lancaster County, S.C., near the SC/NC border. There are couple of nice walking/hiking trails. One trail goes around the lake, while the other start near the parking area. Recommen wearing hiking shoes or boots, espaeciallh after it rains. There is a pavillion that you can reserve for a special occassion. There is a also a nice museum dedicated to our 7th President, Andrew Jackson. There is also a dedicated camping area and several john boats you can rent. However, none of the john boatx have motors, and paddling in a john boat is defintely more dificult than canoeing or kayaking. Overall, this is a very nice park.

This state park is on the border in North Carolina. It has water and electric and a dump station. It was the location closest to where we needed ! We stayed 4 nights in a nice comfortable, quiet location. It is deep in the forest area with great trails. Andrew Jackson on horseback monument. We would recommend this state park. We would stay here again !!

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend there. We canoed the lake, we took our own but boats can be rented there very inexpensively. The area is beautiful with lots of trees and rolling hills. It is close to Lancaster if you need to make a trip to the store. We camped and we not all impressed with the site we were on; it was very unlevel and sites on that side of the road, the center of the circle, were way too close together. The hookups were on the campfire side, making our door face the road and very close to the road. We are going back but have been able to reserve a site on the outer ring of the campground loop, on the lake and those sites looked lovely. So if you wish to camp, make a reservation in advance and avoid the inside campsites unless you only have a tent, but you will still be close to neighbors even then. Overall we did enjoy the time we spent there. We did not hike but there are two trails and the parts of them we saw looked well kept up. The park is smaller than many SC state parks but is well kept up and clean. The lake is small but peaceful and quiet; no gas motors allowed.

My husband and I were not planning on going but we came upon this park on a warm sunny day and we really enjoyed it. It was $2 each adult to enter. Would pack a picnic lunch next time and enjoy the outdoors a little more.

It was a freezing day in January and not the kind of day for outdoor activities, but a little advanced planning yielded a great outing with visitors from Maryland. They expressed an interest in Andrew Jackson so I contacted the museum at the park and made arrangements to visit it the next day. We were the only visitors there during our visit in late morning of a weekday. We were able to check out all the exhibits at our own pace and enjoy all the history the museum has to offer.

A great way to spend times with the kids. The hiking trail is very easy. The playground is really well equipped. Feeding the ducks is always a big hit with the little ones. There is a wonderful replica of a schoolhouse and log cabin that are open for tours and give a lot of good history about life in Jackson's era. The lake has canoes for rent and is perfect for kayaking. There are plenty of barbecue grills and picnic tables. A very nice little park. The entrance fee is actually a donation. I think they suggest $2.

Stopped to visit. Besides the typical State park offerings there is an excellent museum, video, and restored homestead. Figure about 1.5 hours. Worth visiting.

Not very large but it does have a few really nice easy trails especially the one around the lake.A great place if you want to stay local and just go for a leisurely stroll in the woods.Nothing strenuous about this place. If you're into history regarding Presidents there is a small but very interesting museum on Andrew Jackson.Recommend if you have nothing better to do with your spare time especially during the week.

It is not far away from the bustling city of Charlotte, yet is seems as if it is in another world. The park is peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed it!

I attended a meeting at AJSP. The facility that we used was perfect. It was comfortable and accommodated our needs perfectly. It had restroom facilities and a small kitchen and was set in the center of the historical area of the park. The trails were nice, the schoolhouse has a very neat collection of school desks and interpretive early educational information. The museum has a nice film and is an easy user friendly look at the life of Andrew Jackson and life of the time period. The campground is being renovated and is expected to be open again shortly. The lake was quite peaceful and beautiful with a nice trail around the lake. Park staff were very friendly and accommodating and the park was impeccably clean. An amazing value, a nice 'day away' and a great place to hold a relaxed meeting. Very much recommended, especially during the week, when there were very few folks other than us.

It is a small park but nice place to walk. Trails are flat but be sure to wear good sturdy shoes since the trails are not paved

Interesting history lesson inside the building. We also found one of the Civil War sites while traveling to Monroe on hwy 200. Sign by road and cemetery on left.
