Good track and the staff is very friendly. Great tee boxes and the water and sand are very fair. Have played here numerous times and will continue to go back.

We wanted somewhere to play on our way to Hilton Head and found a hotel in Bluffton and then this course. What a pleasant surprise. The course is very flat with both water and sand hazards to spice it up. But it is in great condition even in December. As other reviewers have said it needs the grass to grow in a few areas but it is still perfectly playable. What is undeniable though is the condition of the greens, which are both fast and true. A real delight. David and his staff are doing a great job and you won't be sorry you booked an 'unknown' course. It is a good way from the main roads so is always quiet. Fast pace as it is not that busy. We will certainly go again while prices are reasonable. We have now made a decision not to visit overpriced HHI again whilst we can get good, well priced golf and hotels on the 'mainland'.

While I thought the layout was fantastic I think the course needs some work. The greens were absolutely fantastic, however the fairways were very thin and wet. Several of the bunkers appeared to not have been raked in some time. If this course wants to be a top notch track in the Hilton Head area they are going to have to build a club house as the trailer won't cut it. The staff was very friendly however.

A beautiful and quiet course. Surrounded by a nature preserve. Needs a clubhouse but there's a small one to suffice.

If you are looking for a public golf course that has everything and makes you use every club in your bag, go to the Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes. The staff is excellent, don't be fooled by the temporary club house, You don't play there. The course is in ideal shape, greens rolling smoothly and true.Do yourself a favor, go Play there.

Hilton Head Lakes has always been a good course. The problem on previous visits has been spotty maintenance. Played there today and the course was in very good shape and maintenance crews were all over the course. This course is the first one you come to off Exit 8 toward Hilton Head so it is quite a trip if you're staying on the Island. But it is reasonably priced, scenic and sufficiently challenging to be a course you should consider playing your next trip to the Low Country.

Relatively new, this course is ideal for the higher handicap or recreational golfer. W-I-D-E fairways, playable 3's, and a great natural layout make this course very desirable. Located inside the Hilton Heads Lakes residential area, it is minimally developed homes-wise but fully functioning as a golf course and is staffed with a great team of employees. There is a fully set up practice area (driving, chipping, bunker and putting) and the layout is well placed in a large acreage area inclusive of ponds, pines and bunkers none of which truly interfere in the enjoyment of the game of golf. I played midweek for $40 incl. cart, and I've been told Golf.com can get tee times for much less, so check it and similar sites for deals. I loved the course play, loved the layout and am making it my HH golf home.

Not too difficult which is perfect for novice golfer as myself. But I have friends that play the course weekly and love it!

If you are a snooty pampered country club golfer then stay put. If you are like most of the rest of us golfers then I believe you will like it a lot. You snooty snoots would like it too if you can be honest about the course and not worried about the fact that it is a relatively young course. The course itself was a lot of fun and relatively easy for a big hitter with some occasional direction issues. I played from the blue T's and was able to let it fly often which was very nice when you feel a need to hold back so often. There are no tricks with this course. What I mean is that they do not have to resort to putting a tree in the way of your drive or hidden water hazards that you can not see until you get further up the fairway or domed greens that you can not hold. The condition was great and right where a good course should be in early April, The staff was professional and courteous and the cost was very conductive to bringing in business, I think this place will be amazing in the near future as more houses are built. Do not hesitate to give it a try, My wife and I golfed our 18 holes in 3 hrs 20 minutes. Our average at other courses during the rest of our trip was 5 hours as we waited for every shot. Moving along is a very nice way to golf.

Greens were in very good condition. Fairways okay, not thick with grass. Course basically flat with very little water and some sand. Decent value for the Groupon deal we bought. Probably won't golf it again.Staff certainly was very friendly and good PR for the course.

My wife and I had never golfed before but purchased a deal for 18 holes and a golf cart rental and tried it out. We saw some deer while playing. We only managed to get nine holes in but really had a blast. They put us in the last appointment for the day so we didn’t have to worry about golfers behind us coming up to play through.

We really enjoyed playing this course! It was in great condition and the golf course staff couldn't have been friendlier. There are challenges but most can be seen from the tee and you can plan accordingly. The only reason I didn't give this course a 5 star is because of the temporary facilities on the course and the inconvenient drop off at the current clubhouse. This will be a regular stop on our Hilton Head golfing trips! It was well worth the drive to get there!

Although the development around the golf course has struggled to get going in this economy (and it's doing better now than it was last year), this is a really good golf course. The staff keeps it in very good shape, it offers its challenges (but is not diabolical), and it is reasonably priced compared to courses further down 278 in Bluffton and Hilton Head. The pro shop and grille are still in a double-wide trailer, but a clubhouse should be built in the next year or two. However, I don't pick a course to play based on clubhouse conditions; I play because it's a fun course that's well maintained, and Hilton Head Lakes fits the bill.Quick note: this course was once called Tradition National, so if you are using GPS either on your car to get there OR on your yard distance device, be aware of the previous name, as it may come up instead of HHL.

For the second year in a row I came to Hilton Head Lakes for a yearly Golf Trip. I called the week prior to make my tee times for three days and was advised that they had a college tournament going on the first two days but they would get on as soon as they could in the afternoon. They have a great practice area that includes a 6 hole par three course that they let us on to warm up while we waited to tee off. Great customer service!!!The course is a great layout that is forgiving but challenging. They have Tiff Eagle Greens that hold and roll perfect! The fairways were not over seeded but were kept well cut and easy to play from. Last review said "dried out..." ITS WINTER! The grass is dormant not dried out.. Sand traps had plenty of sand and tee boxes were level.. Little things that makes us golfers happy!Lots of wildlife on the course including MANY alligators, really cool to see.Again, thanks to Hilton Head Lakes for being accommodating and customer service friendly! The Pro Shop staff is top notch!
