No map and no trail markings that we saw, but it was a nice day to just stroll around the Hitchcock Woods. We eventually came out at the horse showing area. Long walk for some of us older folks, but still a pleasant experience.

The Hitchcock Woods are exceptionally manicured with trails that are easily accessed. We enjoyed riding in the Woods during our stay in 2015. Kudos to those that keep it so well groomed! We know that after the ice storm in 2014, this is no easy task, and we must commend all those that work so hard to keep Hitchcock Woods impeccably groomed for riding. Many thanks to you!

I'm giving this 4 stars based on the tiny bit we experienced. I imagine it really deserves 5. Took a short walk as it was raining. What a great natural area! Be sure to pick up a map at one of the entry areas as the woods are a maze of trails. The trails we walked were well marked and all sand. So peaceful and lots of birds. We parked near the stable off Dibble Rd. There is an actual parking lot in this area. Wish we had better weather and more time to explore. Come prepared with water, trailmix, binoculars and then enjoy!

We love to go hiking in the woods with our two dogs. There are many trails to discover. We usually enter the woods from the Hitchcock Estate gate and give our dogs some free run time along the trail.

Hitchcock Woods has many trails for horseback riding and hiking. There are a number of interesting sights, and maps are available (and necessary!) at each gate. Dogs are welcome, but not on the days of the fox hunts. Fox hunt schedules are posted at the entrances.

What can you say about the largest urban woods in the nation? Adjacent to downtown, in a residential area where horses may outnumber humans? I'm ready to move to Aiken--THAT'S how special this place is.

Enjoyed walking the path area; but weary of dogs loose. Had to keep tight control of my dog, when loose dogs approached. Owners couldn't care less. I will not be entering Hitchcock Woods again; lovely or not.

Over 2000 thousand preserved acres for equine, pedestrian use. Don't just explore, but learn the history of this unique forest located in the center of historic Aiken SC.

This is a great place to hike and walk. The woods are thick, and quiet. Parking is easy, you can't see it all in a couple visits.

I was raised in Aiken and was lucky enough that Hitchcock Woods bordered to my back yard. I've spend hundreds of hours exploring these woods and find something new every single time. Even if you are foot bound (w/o a horse) this place is a complete joy. There are so many things to see be it from nature or man made. Sand River is sight to behold but I've noticed that over the past few years they haven't allowed people back there. I understand that land slides have made it unsafe but it is a shame you can't stroll through the middle of it anymore. If you take your dog, make sure they are leashed. We do not need them spooking the horses. It's an amazing time. Take a backpack w/ water and snacks though if you plan on being in the woods for more than an hour.

No wheels allowed in this wonderful, quiet city woods. There are trail maps to guide you at the various entrances, which you are to return for the next walker or horseback rider lucky enough to find this beautiful, natural place.

If a tranquil afternoon walk in the woods under canopy of trees is on your bucket list, this is the one for you. Nature at it's best with birds, trees, well walked trails.

I have ridden many times in Hitchcock and it is always a different experience, I love watching the season change. Also perfect for walking your dog but make sure your dog knows what horses are and doesn't have a panic attack when you come across some riders.I still would like to go on a carriage ride through the woods either in spring or fall, hopefully one of these days.As others have mentioned get a map the trail system is extensive and not all little path and deer trails are marked.

Large area, beautiful trees, especially good on a sunny day. Nothing to dislike, great place for a walk, long or short, and conveniently located.
