Beautiful drive! We were disappointed though, that the road was closed 1/2 way up. C'mon, there was no snow.... :(

This is a wonderful drive, even if you're not planning a hike or other adventure. the Icicle Creek is a torrent in winter and still impressive the rest of the year. There are numerous trailheads off this road, with something for everyone's ability. See WTA.org for more info.

The trail makes a loop around beautiful Icicle creek. It takes about 2 hours at a reasonable pace. Variable and lovely vistas.

A long way off the beaten path and down a long, not terribly car friendly road, you will find this gem! The Icicle Gorge Trail is just under 4 miles round trip, but is well worth it! The historic bridge is beautiful (about a half mile from the parking lot) and worth it just for this much of it.

The water was really rushing, which made the hike especially rewarding. We also had good fall color. It makes a nice easy hike: 4 miles total, 2 miles up the river on one side, and 2 miles back on the other side.

Geocached all around! Loved the quiet, the trees and the water! Great area to hike, walk and be away from the fast pace of the city.

This hike is approximately a 4 mile loop. The elevation change is minimal (about 150 feet), so a good easy hike for most people. The hike runs on both sides of a lovely creek. We were there in mid October so the colors were stunning. It was misty the day we hiked, so the clouds were quite interesting hugging the mountains. Probably one of the prettiest hikes we have taken. There are also spots along the way with tables for a picnic and rest rooms are also available. Would recommend this trail.

This is just one of many trails in the area. First of all directions: At the west end of Leavenworth, turn onto Forest service Rd #7600 ( there is a 76 gas station on the corner). The parking lot is approx 15 mi. ( 24 km), the last 3 mi. (5 km) is good gravel. The trail is a 4 mi. ( 6 km) loop with an elevation change of about 150 ft ( 50 m), so it doesn't really matter which way you go. There is an amazing variety of forest types within this small area. Great river views and even a few spots to dip your feet on a hot day just add to the experience. We are a couple in our mid 60's and it took us just under 2 hrs and that's with stopping to take photos and admire the views

Icicle Gorge has a lot to do for the outdoor lover and the rock climber. I have spent many days here enjoying the sound of the river and the great climbing. I can't wait to get back because I have so many more things to do there that I have not done. Backpacking/climbing trips up into the Enchantments or near Mt Stuart are amazing and worth the hard work. Rock climbs vary from bouldering, one pitch, or long multi-pitch climbs. There are some good ice climbs, but most are at higher elevations. You can even experience solitude along the river if you know where to look.

This is a wonderful walk through local forests with safe tracks . It is good for all ages and usually lots of bird life.

Just a tremendous feeling of littleness- huge mountain sides all meeting at the bottom........ where we were.A wild and wooly creek bashing it's way down the gorge to join the Wenatchee River 24 miles down stream. Plenty of photo ops, some rudimentary campsites, plenty of beauty to go around.

An easy walk (about and hour, plus) along the River, through a cedar and aspen forest, across the bridge and along the other side of the River. Not very crowded due to the almost 20 mile drive from Leavenworth. What's not to like?

We visited Leavenworth in late July when the forest fires were just west of the town. We drove to Icicle Gorge, but the beautiful mountains were obsured by smoke from the fires. We could see them faintly and they must be gorgeous when the air is clear.

Smooth surface, fairly easy hike that took about 2 hours. Loved being out of the afternoon sun on an exceptionally hot day.

Even if you don't hike - just get out of town and enjoy the a scenery of the gorge. Lots of hikes and views!
