This is a stunning architectural experience. Outside & inside, very English Gothic. Sunday service was great, with terrific pipe organ & choir, intelligent sermon, & user-friendly ceremony. I felt welcome here, & uplifted. (Get here early for services. Parking can be challenging.)

what a beautiful church both inside and out . There is a stained glass window that when the sun shines through it turns the inside of the church all red it is so beautiful . I would encourage anyone into architecture and visiting Spokane to visit this church it is such a jewel perched on the south hill overlooking Spokane downtown. How lucky we are to have such a jewel.

The Episcopal Cathedral of St John the Evangelist in Spokane, Washington is BEAUTIFUL. We were trying to find it before it got dark, and BOOM! There it was with the setting sun casting a ethereal glow on the front of the building. We happened across a couple of clergy leaving the building and they said that we could go in and look around on our own since there was a wine tasting happening in another part of the building. Caveat was, there were no lights on.So literally, with fading light coming in the stained glass windows of the cavernous sanctuary, we began snapping photos blindly. The flash is the only thing that saved us because we couldn't see much of anything in there. We really saw what we had only after getting home and uploading the photos. What a hushed and holy place. In one of the photos I also captured a super cool orb. Without further adieu, enjoy photos taken in near pitch darkness. If you plan better than we did, there are tour times available. Check the website (link above). This is a truly impressive structure. The sanctuary is vast, cavernous, impressive and reminiscent of European cathedrals.
