The view will leave you breathless!! Grab your camera and see some amazing views on hurricane ridge. The ride from the visitor center will take about 45 minutes and is full of sharp turns and takes some time but be patient, I can assure you it is worth it. There is a snack/gift shop on the top along with restrooms and a ranger station. We went in March and it is icy, wear the right kind of shoes if you want to go exploring once you are at the top. Incredible place, loved it!!

The drive to Hurricane Ridge was beautiful. Once you arrive, you'll find the views breathtaking. If you're a shutterbug, you won't be disappointed. It's a lovely, tranquil place to be.

The drive is beautiful, the mountains are beautiful, the trees are beautiful...it's all beautiful. They say to have chains, but we didn't and luckily didn't need them. It's $15 per vehicle and totally worth it. There are several pull-off spots along the way to take pictures. We were already in awe at the first stop, so imagine when we got to the top. Being from the southeast, we don't see mountains much. Hurricane Ridge was amazing, and I hope to come back again soon.

This place is totally worth the drive up the mountain and is one of the most breathtaking places I have ever visited. There were only tiny patches of snow on the slope next to the easy path up the ridge, a very unusually warm and snowless February. You can stay until the sun dips down behind the trees near the visitors centre then the ranger is in a hurry to get everyone down safely. When on the ridge make sure you stand completely still and listen - you will hear virtually nothing - no cars, hopefully no people, no wind (the day we were there anyway). It is as close to silence as you can get.

So gorgeous, especially when you look back and see you are above the clouds. Beautiful mountains and nice visitor center at the top and bottom. The park website says you must have tire chains in your car in the winter, but since WA has had virtually no snowfall this winter, there was no need for them. We had them in our car just in case they checked for them, but nobody did. Staff and rangers at the visitor centers were helpful, too!

Drove up this weekend to see what we could see. Unfortunately the weather has not cooperated and there is not a lot of snow at the visitor center. However the views from the visitor center and the parking areas along the way up on the drive are awesome. There is a small snack bar and give shop on the lower level of the visitor center and the food was satisfactory for what we got. The Rangers and staff are all very friendly and helpful. It does cost $15 to enter the park so be aware of that cost before you go. During this visit the roads were clear of snow and ice until you got right up to the visitor center where there was a little bit of slush.

Wow! This was one of the highlights of our trip to the Pacific Northwest. The views at the top were absolutely spectacular! Definitely worth the drive up, though our tiny rental car wasn't too happy;) On our first attempt up the ridge, it was so foggy we could hardly see anything- it was actually a little eerie, with no one else around except the deer. The next morning, we'd read reports that the road was going to be closed until noon for construction, but we were only in the area for one day and really wanted to experience Hurricane Ridge, so we had to try it (no one was manning the booth to tell us otherwise)! Anyways, we're glad we did- there was no construction and though we started out at the base in fog, by the time we made it to the top, the skies had cleared and it was glorious! So awesome!! And watch for snow, waterfalls and wildlife along the way- there are deer everywhere and we also saw some really cool birds at the side of the road- had to google them when we got home- they were sooty grouse- it looks like they have corn cobs in the side of their necks!

The hike is quick and easy, maybe 20 minutes and kids and elderly guests will do fine. You'll be surprised at how long the drive up to the visitor center is. The deer are fed far too much, making them a curious part of the attraction. Fantastic view.

We traveled up to Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Park and and we had rain at ground level. The park ranger was able to look at his computer and see that the Hurricane Ridge was above the clouds. By the time we got through the clouds, the weather cleared and we could see the ferry traveling to Victoria, B.C. The views were just outstanding and the information vistas were very informative. A wonderful day trip from Seattle. The amusing part of this trip was that we were using our Garmin to find a place to eat and up popped hundreds of restaurants, and all were less than 20 miles away. It took us a time to realize that, yes, Mr. Garmin was accurate, but the time to travel those 20 miles was not what was posted as it required getting on a ferry and crossing over to Victoria. We had to wait a while before we could find one of the two places to eat in Forks. We got a wonderful meal, fit for a healthy logger in volume and wonderful taste, at very good rates.

If the road is open and the weather is even somewhat clear, don't miss the chance to drive up to this natural wonder. A short 20 min. drive from downtown Port Angeles, this mountain ridge has sweeping views which will take your breath away. Drive up just for the view and to see the visitor centre, or make a day of it and get some hiking or skiing in.

Hurricane Ridge is nice any season of the year. We went up there last summer and got to see a mother deer and two fawns while we were hiking on one of the trails. We got so close I could have probably petted them on the head. On the way back down the road a deer got right up by the car it nearly put it's head in my window. The scenery is beautiful but make sure you go up on a clear day, I have been there when it was cloudy and you could barely see anything. Most recently we went up to go sledding and had a great time, make sure you check the website for sledding/snowshoeing schedules and road conditions. Active Military with ID get in free.

My wife and I visited Hurricane Ridge in July and it was breathtaking. The road is full of switchbacks but the end is well worth the trip. We saw numerous deer, several bucks still in velvet as well as a very close encounter with a doe and a fawn, only wish we could have spent more time there.
