I enjoyed visiting the salmon hatchery on the Columbia River. They have a very interesting salmon fish ladder at the Spring Creek National Fish Hatchery. The hatchery raises more than 5 million chinook salmon annually. They use water from several springs located at the base of the adjacent basalt cliffs. One can independently visit the salmon raising grounds. One can also arrange to have a guided tour. Also at the hatchery is a park. This is a premier windsurfing and kiteboarding site in the Columbia River Gorge with views of Mount Hood from shore.
