Booked trip two months in advance and flew out with my father in law from wyoming. Tried repeatedly to contact guide the week prior to trip, got no response. Finally the day before got one text that the river was really blown out. Could not get anything else from him, seemed not to care and just blew us off. Do not waste your time and money when you can't even get a phone call!

Ryan was an incredible guide from beginning to end. My son Jack had never caught a salmon and sure enough Ryan got us to the "Honey Hole!" We are from California, but would book another trip with Ryan in a heart beat. Ryan knows what he is doing and we felt safe even when the conditions got rough. Super competent guide serious outdoorsman! Can't wait for another trip! Highly recommend you book a trip with Ryan....you won't be sorry!

What a terrible experience. Booked for Springers on the Wind River. Had a drastic weather change over the previous 24 hours and that usually shuts off the bite, but we were urged to go ahead anyways. Traveled in the same travel lane, at the same depth, with the same presentation all day, with 1 jack to show for it and 2 missed bites. Instruction was not detailed, even though we saw another guide next to us giving his group an in depth instructional seminar before they started fishing, and then we see them immediately boat a Springer 10 minutes later. That was the story all day long...watched boats all around us bring in nice shiny beautiful fish, while we stayed in the same lane that we covered the whole day long. Ryan wouldn't do the main travel lane with the other boats who were catching fish, and we didn't even change our presentation to see what the fish were interested in. All the fish I saw landed by other boats were caught with flashers and herring...we trolled prawn spinners all day with 1 jack to show for it while the boats around us landed chrome beasts. We briefly tried one other lane, for maybe 30 minutes, and then back to the same lane that wasn't producing. Same thing with depth, we briefly tried a shallower depth to see if they were suspending, but it was maybe for 30 minutes and then we went back to the bottom...where we weren't hitting fish. And to add insult to injury, when we did do something incorrect, he would give us crap about it. We are experienced fishermen...but from the bank. Boat fishing was new to us and we shared that at the beginning. Not happy with the day and I don't think anyone from our group will be booking again. If you're from out of town, or aren't familiar with salmon fishing, then yeah, go with a guide...but otherwise just go explore on your own and figure it out. We booked because we had a guy in town from another country and thought this would be the best bet to get him a Springer...but it was a terrible experience. When you see people catching fish, you gear up with what they are using, and try to get as close to that area as you can while it's hot...we did none of that.Never again....

I always have a good fishing adventure with Ryan at Riverside Guied service. Can't wait to get out and catch some of them Springers. Oh and buoy 10 was off the hook last year. Thanks Ryan to you and all your crew.

If you have never been fishing and would like to learn, then this is the perfect guide to do so. Ryan was knowledgeable and was able to explain to is what to do in plain English. Our guide Ryan made us feel at ease and it felt like we knew him our whole lives. Thanks Ryan for the best fishing trip ever. I would definitely go fishing with Ryan again as well as recommend his services to friends, family, and coworkers.

I had booked a trip for my son, my father, and myself, and my son came back from being in the field with the army and was supposed to be off base the Friday before our fishing trip Sunday. My son and his platoon were not allowed to leave base and were put on 24 hour CQ. I sent Ryan an email and he refused to re-book the trip. After 2 tours of duty we had three generations that were really looking forward to the trip. I would think that honoring our military over "terms and conditions" would be the right thing to do. Unfortunately Ryan and Riverside Guide Service do not. The trip was prepaid at $175 per person and Riverside Guide Service would not refund or rebook. Shameful.

Had an awesome time with Ryan on the Nisqually River, fishing for Kings. Ryan was extremely knowledgeable on the river and where the hot spots were at. We all reached our limits by lunch time. Would recommend Ryan to all my Family and Friends.

I was in Portland for business and ended up with a last minute free day. I got on the phone and starting calling guides. I was referred to Ryan and he was able to get me in the following day. All of his gear was in great shape. His boat is perfect for river fishing. I've chartered all over the world and Ryan is one of the best guides/captains that I've come across. I like that he strikes out on his own both with location and technique, rather than just following the crowd. It was a slow day on the river with only 2 salmon being caught. Ours was by far the biggest! You'll find Ryan to be very pleasant and knowledgeable. He is a passionate sportsman and it shows in the effort that he makes. I would highly recommend Using his guide service if you find yourself in the Portland or Seattle area.

I went out with Ryan on the Columbia to give the springer run a try. Leading up to the trip, he communicated with me often, pointing me to his website for directions (helpful and efficient). We met at one of the marinas - which was quite nice. Ryan quickly taught everyone on the boat how to fish for springers and within 5 mins, everyone got it. 2 hours later, we had 2 fish in the boat. It was a great trip and I feel like I found a professional & reliable guide to go out with in the future.

I went out with Ryan on the Nisqually in early January and had a great time fishing for Chum. I took my dad who had never caught a Salmon before and he had a blast. I have been out with a few guides in the Seattle area over the years but Ryan is the best. He very personable and a great guide.
