All campus looked up. No food places without key card. Only visitor CENTER open with loads of t-shirt and plastics expensive "give away" with Microsoft logos. You were not allowed to buy electricity as Surface. Took us two hours get there and it took us 5 min to walk through the shop and out

We first read about this in Wired magazine (Geek cred) and decided we'd find this on our recent visit to the Seattle area.Building on the Microsoft campus was easy to find. Ample visitor parking. When you come in the front door stop at the reception desk and just let them know you're going to the visitor center and Microsoft store. The visitor center briefly describes the founders of Microsoft and what they're doing today (two have since died). a couple of exhibits that had some fun artifacts. The rest of the VC was showcasing Microsoft products: XBox, Surface, phones, laptops, desktops, and new technologies. It was fun to walk through the gallery and test the products, check our email, look at a few maps, and wonder what kind of new things everyone is working on in other buildings! The store was a treat! Even if you're not a huge Microsoft user you can sill browse their selection of clothing, hats, trinkets, tech gear, and more. Something for everyone from baby to adult. I laughed at the baby onesie that said "Please change my diaper-I'm finished downloading."I picked up a nice Trust me. I'm a Geek. t-shirt for $10. There was a sale going on and my husband found a nice neoprene sleeve for his company-issued SurfacePro2 that was $6.95. What a deal!

It's a place to say you've been to. The store there is nice (if you like Microsoft items). There are a few things to try (like best buy). Honestly it's not a big "attraction".

Microsoft is basically an office complex and there's not a lot to see if you visit the headquarters of a big company. So, they have to do something in order to entertain the visitors that do want to come. Microsoft hasn't put a huge effort into this.I haven't been with kids, but I bet that this would be a hit with preteen girls and boys. I would have loved it when I was younger - lots of buttons to push and technology to try! As an adult, it's only okay. The store across the way, however, is pretty cool if you want any Microsoft branded stuff. It's not a full-blown Microsoft store, more like a gift shop. They've got some good stuff in there though.

My brother works here and when I want an adventure, I go visit him at work. It's fun to see what's new with world of computers and the internet. Love it!!

If you are in the area, the visitor center in building 92 is worth a trip - put your hands on some of the latest technology, and spend a little time browsing the Microsoft store. It is worth an hour or two of time if you are in the area!

Some (not a lot) of interesting history about MS & technology over the years. But plan to spend some time playing with the new consoles.

I was really excited about this and thought it would be like viewing microsoft's home of the future setups of where tech can go. While also showing current items. It was basicly a microsoft store, with one panel of history and 2 futuristic makeup/dress kinect things. Signage to get to visitor center wasn't great. They also didn't have their newest cool item the microsoft band fitness tracker yet.

I read all the TripAdvisor warnings to phone before visiting, which was VERY good advice. The phone call revealed they'd be open at 11:30, so I showed up at 11:50 and got sidetracked in the gift shop. Ten minutes later, I wandered across the hall to the visitors center and discovered it had closed AGAIN for another private event until 2pm.So when you arrive at a time the Visitors Center is open, don't get sidetracked by the gift shop until AFTER you've seen it!

The Microsoft Visitors Center is a great place to learn about the company that brought Windows, Office and a lot more to the world.I've been reading some of the reviews on this page and thought I'd write a few helpful tips to enjoy the experience:0. The Microsoft Visitor Center and Company Store are in Building 92.1. Call first, as the visitor's center might be closed for a private event.2. They are not open on weekends and public holidays.3. Software area in the Company Store is open only Microsoft employees, and as of this writing you cannot enter the software area of the store without tapping your full-time employee badge on the turnstile. 4. The public can however buy very interesting Microsoft-branded apparel and souvenirs such as mugs, key rings, pens, stationery, toys, and a lot more.5. Be sure to check out the museum to understand a bit about Microsoft's history and how Microsoft revolutionized the information world, and experience some of the latest in devices and games from Microsoft.6. If you want to know more about something while at the Microsoft Visitor Center, just ask. :)7. There is a coffee shop that is publicly accessible near the company store.8. The campus is a beautiful place for hiking, cycling or simply enjoying nature.Disclaimer: I am a Microsoft employee, but I've tried to keep the information presented above as unbiased as possible :)

If you're in the area or even if you live nearby, it's nice to visit Microsoft once in a while. They have several different things you might be interested in looking at. Personally, I enjoy the nicely groomed and maintained campus for walks, including the running trails that range from 2 - 5 miles and are marked by colors. The campus is fairly nice to bike to as well and has a lot of bike racks outside of the builds (and inside if you are an employee). In the spring, there are many blossoming trees to see and in the falls, those same trees are nice bright reds and oranges. On the inside, there is the Microsoft store where you can buy souvenirs about Microsoft and the Visitor Center where you can check out new devices and some of the history of Microsoft. You are best off checking ahead about the visitor center. There are often events and large groups that come in.Microsoft is easily accessible by transit as the main campus is located next to Overlake Transit Center.

We had some time to kill and found ourselves poking through the Microsoft guest areas. This was so much fun and we learned a lot of interesting tid bits! There are even games to play and things to interact with for all ages.
