The 4-hour rainforest tour starting from Lake Quinault lodge was excellent, worth every penny. We learned many new things about trees, plants, birds, elk, and interesting stories about homesteading and the families who live in the National Forest (one side of lake) and the National Park (other side). We learned a lot about the logging industry, tribal ownership of the lake, early exploration, and history of founding the park. Sandra, the tour guide and driver of comfortable van, was extremely knowledgeable due to her years of park experience. This was a great way to learn about this wonderful region.

I had decided to go on this tour mainly because it was our first time to Quinault and we wouldn't have a lot of time to explore. We wanted to see as much as we could and we certainly did that. Mia was a wonderful tour guide and told us about everything we went by. At first, I was hesitant about the 4 hr trip but it went by so fast because there was so much to see and you were constantly getting out to look at something amazing. If you are short on time, I would highly recommended this tour.

We took this tour even though it was 4 hours long and departed at 4 PM. My thought was that it couldn't possbily really be 4 hours. And if you had asked me after the first 45 minutes.....I'd have told you it was a big mistake taking this tour. Then........just as you think you're trapped for the next 3 hours 15 minutes, you get to the rain forest, and everything changes. This is EXACTLY the tour you should take if you don't know anything about the peninsula, the rain forest, and aren't looking to do any hiking to find out (just some casual strolling in the woods). Our guide did an excellent job of giving historical background of the rainforest, and he really knew his stuff (trees, animals, weather etc). I still think it could have been a 3 hour tour, but we have no regrets having spent our time on it.

We loved the information and seeing things that would take us four days to discover and we learned and saw in 4 hours. We had my 76 year mom and and 86 year old in our group and they loved it. I would go again in a heart beat.

We went on the Lake Quinault Rain Forest van tour that leaves twice a day from Lake Quinault Lodge. We were lucky enough to be in a small group of only 5 people. Our van driver/tour guide Charlie, was the most awesome tour guide ever. He customized our 4 hour tour to the wishes of the group in addition to the standard parts of the tour. Charlie is extremely knowledgeable about the rain forest, the trees, ferns, moss and wildlife of the area and did a fantastic job of sharing his knowledge. We frequently stopped, taking short hikes with lots of photo opportunities. He was very willing to answer our many questions and was able to answer nearly all questions. Even if your time at the lodge is short, save time to take this tour.
