My travels took me to Olmstead Place State Park just a few miles East of Ellensburg. The historical aspect This is the location of one of the first homesteads in the Kittitas valley. The Olmstead family arrived in 1875 and lived on the farm for about 100 years before donating it to Washington State Parks in 1968. The original 1875 log cabin and 1908 farmhouse, with the family's furnishings intact, are still standing, as are most of the outbuildings. (taken from their web site)There were even draft horses! There is a history of paranormal activity which just makes it even more interesting!A great place to show the kids how people lived when they first arrived here as well as guided tours and they also host weddings on site. There is no fee for this location but you must have a Park Pass. There are stairs (no elevator) for the 2nd floor of the house
