I made the 70 mile drive from Williston yesterday because I wanted to go to a real casino, not the places that try to pass as a "Casino" in Montana and was very disappointed. There is no signage in New Town to tell you where it is but I figured if I just kept driving, I'd find it. Once I finally found it, I drove around the whole building looking for an entrance. There's one marked for the hotel and another for the events center but not for the casino. Saw what I thought might be the casino entrance only to find it closed for construction with a sign to go in through the events center. Once inside, the place is a construction war zone. Very few machines operating. Lots of dead machines stacked around the room, lots of construction going on. I don't know what they're doing but they're doing nothing to make it inviting to place during the construction. They have a tiny smoking room with at least a third of the machines shut off in it. Why wouldn't you have all machines in that room operational? It's clear this is the only gambling option around and the tribe has to do nothing to make it a desirable place to play, they've got a captive audience. The woman at the cashier's cage was very pleasant but every other staff member was rude, if they even acknowledged your presence.I've been to many tribal casinos that are extremely well run. This definitely isn't one of them. Don't waste your gas, time or money. Maybe I'll give those Montana casinos another shot. LOL

Bad casino to lose 700 dollars on a penny machine is just terrible when the biggest hit I got was. 30 dollars save your money go someplace else

They have finally added floor staff so if you have problems there is someone to ask-I found everyone to be helpful and friendly this time around. They no longer have free soda machines on the gaming floor-you now have to go into the bar and get it yourself!!!! At least before it was on the gaming floor.

We like to play video poker and there were only eight machines in the entire casino. We were not impressed.

I would advise you not to use your players club card....much better chance to win with no card if winning there is even possible....maybe the machines let you play a little during the daytime while the seniors are there as i am a regular and track the patterns....most givaways and drawings are won by tribal members so dont bother wasting your time...the government really needs to investigate this whole organization...last night we used player club points for a room and was awarded a room with no working shower and a broken t.v. also....air conditioning works great in winter and heat works well in the summer....100.00 plus for the room....nobody ever at front desk and all employees are very rude....takes half hour for hand pay of 20.00!!!LOL but very true...took my wife to the sunday lunch buffet and cost 19.95 each!! Food i wouldnt feed my dog and resembles institution style quality...looks like an old school cafeteria...being a local area resident,i know and see the tribal leaders driving there fancy cars and building lavish homes but the rest of tribe is very poor and the homeless rate is disgusting....town is in shambles with no rules,regulations....basically you can throw down a trailer at roadside and dump your waste in the ditches if you choose...there is nothing good about this casino....been to dozens of casinos and nothing i have witnessed like this place....its a disgrace to the great people of newtown,nd.....forget food after 10pm and vending machines, soda machines always empty....ice machines always broken...atm's dont even payout!...lost hundreds off my balance at bank without recieving money from the casino atm....its only a wonder why there would be no soda fountain on the floor as every casino has...only drink available is coffee or tea...no waitressess to serve you on the floor and must go to the bar yourself and stand there forever to get served and quite possible you will watch all the buddies of the bartender walter get served first.this place is a complete joke in every sense of the word compared to any other casino nationwide!....no late night pizza, burgers, etc and if you start to win at a table game most likely they will shut the table down...dangerously dark intersection at the road where you pull into parking lot.zero proffessionalism by every employee from the front desk to the cashiers to the security staff to the bartenders.....truly an awful experience and very obviously the only gig in town translates to the attitude of only in business to take your money and not even with a smile at least....rather than get taken and wasting your night you might want to read the other reveiws and not just my opinion.....please call outlying towns chamber of commerse for their opinion as it will resemble what i have wrote....zillions in oil money has corrupted this tribal nation and absolutely no reason to please you----THE CUSTOMER!....

The machines in this casino are old, outdated, and poorly maintained. Dusty, bulbs out, loose/malfunctioning parts. Half the machines run tickets, and half still run coins! The casino itself has potential, but is staffed by such rude employees that it is doomed to forever be a flop. The cashiers will actually blare gangster rap from their phones while serving you. If you can find an employee, they act like you're interrupting their day. And that is not an exaggeration. That statement goes for every native in a service position on the reservation. Never more than two cashiers, regardless of how busy it is. Oh and forget about ever being asked if you need a drink! Oh and the food is HORRIBLE.I'm 26 years old so this isn't an opinion coming from some stuck up old-timer. If I'm dissatisfied, it says something about how bad this place is!Bottom line: spend your money on something useful like collectable NASCAR plates.

Payouts poor, but I do like the fact that they are smoke-free now (except for the sectioned off room for smokers)

I really can only rate the food and the atmosphere. I am not a gambler and I haven't attended any concerts here. The food is greasy and there aren't a lot of choices for a buffett. The atmosphere is dark and dingy and smokey. It also smells like adult diaper when you first walk in.

This is just the latest of a string. Had not been to 4 Bears in a Couple of Years, so hoping there may be some change...Alas that was not meant to be. Although there were some design changes to the inside. It was still just as dirty with rude employees, lousy food and of course no drinks person walking the floor. Could find hardly any quarter machines as they had moved them and they did not have them operation...so sad. You can really tell when a casino is ONLY in it for the money!

ROOMS and RATESMy first stay at 4 Bears casino-hotel (Newtown, North Dakota) was in Dec/05. I had a room on the second floor - 2 beds, nonsmoking, just renovated with new furnishings and a lovely view of the lake. That was the best room that I have stayed in at 4 Bears. I stayed there four more times and found the rooms to be a good size, comfortable and quiet. The bathrooms are very small with the sink outside of the bathroom. The mattresses are excellent! Some of the rooms have coffeemakers. I always ask for nonsmoking rooms on the second floor. When I phoned for a reservation for Feb/07 I was told they no longer had standard rooms, only "deluxe". Rooms were $74 with slightly less for seniors. The rooms are not worth that ! When it was Canadian at par weekends, they would allow one night at par (payable in cash, Canadian). That offer is no longer available. I was able to get a room for the winter rate of 47.50 $US and that is because I booked for a Sunday! So much for the "so called Canadian at par weekend" special. When I stayed for a night in August/07 it was at par weekend and once again, I was not able to pay at par Canadian. The room was comfortable, but it was on the main floor near the casino entrance so I could smell the smoke from the casino in the hallways. I had requested the second floor when I made my reservation. **Update - the brochure I received for Nov/Dec 07 had some different room rates - $74.20 US ($68.37 seniors) ; for Canadian at par weekend $47.70 US and winter rates of 37$ US Sunday to Thursday. It was also noted that the Canadian at Par weekend packages have been revised due to the current exchange rate. A phone call is required for details. There is a large heated indoor pool, hot tub (sometimes very HOT) - and a steam room (sometimes unavailable). This provides a nice diversion if you want a break from gambling. During my stay in August/07, the hot tub was not inviting -- could have used a cleaning. They were all out of towels at the pool so I had to go to the front desk to ask for dry towels. We did have the pool to ourselves in the evening The water is comfortable for a swim. THE CASINOBe prepared -- the casino is very SMOKY! Your hair and clothing smell of smoke. The Buffet is PRICEY. The snack bar offers food at reasonable prices, but always seems to run out of food. I suggest you take some snacks along with you, or you may not be eating. Last two times I was there, no cocktail waitress came around, You had to buy your own drinks at the bar. It's unfortunate that the drinks were not cheaper while playing the slots, (offering complimentary glasses of draft for players would be nice). The slot club --- well do not lose your card or it may end up costing you for another one (will replace a card if you are willing to gets points deducted off your card) As for points on your card -- it takes a long time to accumulate enough points to make it worthwhile!! I haven't seen any incentive for belonging to the slot player club. And this is the first place I've been to that does not replace lost cards for free.I have only stayed one night each time I have gone to 4 Bears Casino, I would not plan to stay any longer -- one day is just fine.
