We stayed at the Icelandic State Park from May 16 - May 19 2014 and had a blast. This was the first stay at the park and we look forward to making this an annual trip every May long weekend!! The site we had was very spacious and clean. The golfing at the local golf course was inexpensive and quite challenging. Overall I would definitely recommend.

Did a short mid-week trip to this State Park in ND. All camping sites are pull-through with water and electric, no sewer. Beautiful wooded sites, well planned and separated by woods. Nearby is the Gunlogson Arboretum with several beautiful nature trails. On Lake Renwick (Renwick Dam), so were lulled to sleep by geese settling into their nighttime resting spots. Only drawback is that the Dam is still being repaired, so a muddy back way is the only way into the campground. Also heard heavy machinery at work at 0700. State Park headquarters houses a museum describing the early settlers to the area. Fascinating artifacts and photography, friendly staff. Would like to have stayed longer, and will go again, I'm sure. Just watch out for acorns dropping on your head!

The Park Manager was very friendly and engaging as he gave an off the cuff history lesson and answered many questions. He was extremely knowledgable and he strongly showed how much he enjoys the work at this park and his pride.

The birding was excellent! We saw quite a few warblers and vireos, including Mourning Warblers. It's a pretty park with great habitat.

Icelandic state park has lots to offer including the beach/picnic area and the lake for boating. There is a 9 hole golf course across the lake. There are over 150 camping spots and a concession at the beach. The Gunlogson arboretum has beautiful hiking trails that are groomed in the winter for cross country skiing.

$5 per car gets you quite a bit. A museum tour, fun at the lake, camping, and nature trails are just a few of the available fun things to do.

Had to through in a review of this campsite, very friendly staff, beautiful sites, clean bathrooms with free showers. Other than the dirt road detour entrance due to construction, I have nothing to complain about with this campsite. Even the park rangers were very friendly. The campsite is very quiet at night so its wonderful for young kids that have early bedtimes. If you are rowdy, find somewhere else to bother people, this place is great.

A large park area with a stage, makes this a good venue for the Icelandic Festival. If I am not mistaken, this is where they also set up the Fair in the summer.

We've been going to Icelandic State Park for about 18 years and have always found it well maintained with friendly staff. All campsites are pull-thru and now the trees are big enough to provide shade and privacy in the north section. They've also done improvements with the hook-ups in the west section. The staff keeps the grass short and the washrooms are always clean when we've been there. Nice 9 hole golf course just across the lake. Only thing holding us back from going more right now is that the main entrance road over the dam is under construction, so you must detour several miles on a rough gravel road. Once the dam is finished being upgraded, we'll definitely go more often again. We've been to several North Dakota State Parks, and Icelandic is the one we like the most by far!!!

Fix the road !!!! I have been visiting the park for years. This year we were met by a reconstruction of Renwick Dam and a detour over a road that should only be addressed by pickup trucks. As we like to come and go with our RV during our stay, NOT. The staff explained the project will last a couple years. That's when we will return. Great Staff...obviously political.
