This is one of many biking trails that are apparently in the area. Rode it mid-afternoon on a Friday. It was way too busy for me. Beautiful though. Saw 2 homeless types, but they appeared harmless. Great habitat for wildlife, so be vigilant. Maybe leave the iPod & earbuds at home? Lots of blind curves, so pay attention! The following Monday & Tuesday, I rode an equally gorgeous trail near Churn Creek, but one that was less populated. Redding is to be commended for offering such great biking opportunities.

was a nice area , how ever the view was marred by homeless encampments , the water fountain did not work at all , and the dog water fountain was off as well. They need to pay more attention to the homeless encampments and get ride of the beer bottles left around the encampments. There was a old historical building that was fenced off and thus the plaque that told what it was , was also fenced off. I suspect that it had been being used as a homeless encampment so they just fenced it all off.

This really is a great place to walk all the trails. Start on the west side and go over the bridge. From here you can turn left and take more trails all around the river and loop back to Turtle Bay where you started. You could spend HOURS walking all these trails. Beautiful river and places to go down to the water to skip rocks or just look around.

it is a treasure to have this available to us. I have used it extensively for rehab after an accident and bike riding as an enjoyable evening.

The beauty and peacefulness of the Sacramento River Trail is amazing. I love walking the extensive trail system in Redding.

This trail is my favorite part of Redding. It's possible to walk or bike for miles on multiple trails, and there are stunning views from the Diestelhorst bridge of the mountains.I do not hesitate to go alone with my dog, in the daylight of course. There has been some crime here, and you need to be aware that there are homeless people around, but I am not aware of problems caused by the homeless. Just be aware of your surroundings, and for heaven's sake, don't walk or jog listening to music so that you can't hear people approaching. That's just not smart.

The Sacramento River Trail is an enjoyable treck for bicyclists, runners and walkers alike. It follows the river and some beautiful scenery can be had. A word of warning is called for, however, as there have been several attempted sexual attacks and muggings at different times of day and night. It is advisable to always enjoy this trail with a partner especially in the early hours or after dark and if you are female. Let common sense prevail and don't let these warnings deter you from enjoying the trail. The river is beautiful.

When driving from Oregon to Central Valley we always plan an overnight in Redding so that we can spend time either walking or biking along the Sacramento River. This trail is just great. There are lots of park benches along the way. You can have a wonderful experience whether you have 15 minutes to spend there or 4 hours (for the ride to Shasta Dam and back). The scenery is breadth taking at any time of the year. Plus, the bridge itself is fun to walk across and take a bit of extra time and walk through the Gardens which are located on the east side of bridge (turn left after crossing).

This is a great walk along the river. Redding has done a nice job making the most of this feature. The sun dial bridge is amusing.

Great path, Sundial if nice and they have good coffee inside, lots to see walk or ride. You can see many things birds people watch and the plants are coming alive so lots of color. Just a great day!

went for a ride on both sides of the river - very nicely done and maintained in the middle of the city. the only drawback was some "sketchy" characters and activities going on in the late-afternoon. would recommend to go earlier in the day and keep very alert at all times

Although most of it is paved and I prefer dirt, I love this trail. The major trail is a 11 mile loop along the Sacramento River and extending up to the fabulous Calatrava Sundial Bridge. From there are shorter loops including the Arboretum loop through grassy woodland, a secondary loop by the Turtle Bay pond which is a major birding area, and the Dana Drive extension which goes by the bald eagle nest and either down go a picnic and recreation area or up to Hilltop Drive with many restaurants and stores. Se like to ride the lower trails in the late aftefnoon and then ride up to Hiltop for dinner returning after dark on a lit dedicated trail. We live here so we have visited with friends, family, kids and solo. There are always people on the grails especially the Turtle Bay area.

The Sacramento River Trail system is a beautiful example of country in the middle of the city. Now probably 10 miles of paved trails on both side of the river. Wonderful for strolling or running, biking, skating, or walking your dog. Everytime I have visitors we make a point of taking them to the river trail and the Sundial Bridge. Everyone should see this beautiful part of California.

The river trail has it all. World class Sundial Bridge, miles of biking/walking trails, flat trails, steep trails...truly a wonderful place to enjoy the beauty that Redding has to offer. New signs help you to choose your path, and go as little or as far as you want. Don't miss it!
