Had a great seat at the bar after flying 2000 miles to experience this iconic place. Was awesome minus the 20-30 obnoxious and loud drunks who disrespected both the venue and the artist, Annie Bosko, that night. Please don't go there if you want to act like that. It is a MUSIC VENUE that happens to have a bar, NOT the other way around.

I attended the Friday night show of Blackberry Smoke at the Troubadour and it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to.The venue is intimate and up close with the artists. The wait staff were friendly and fast, the drinks were wet and the whole place was rocking.Since the Troubadour is in LA, you never know who will show up. Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top make a weird appearance, but I didn't feel it detracted at all from the excellent show Blackberry Smoke put on.I felt right at home surrounded by 300 appreciative fans in this classic bar.

Great venue with a bit of an edge. I've seen Jay Brannan twice there. Drinks are what you would expect in Hollywood. Reasonable and safe parking in lot directly across the street.

Booked in advance to see Dave Stewart and Friends in September 2013, whilst on holiday from the UK.Brilliant venue, small enough to be called intimate. We were touching distance from the band and the sound was excellent. A great band, with Orianthi on lead guitar, but really all the musicians were outstanding. A mixture of new songs and Eurythmics favourites. Then a guest appearance by Marilyn Manson, doing "Sweet Dreams", brilliant, absolutely brilliant, did I say it was brilliant?Check it out on YouTubeWe go to a lot of gigs, but the Troubadour is so cool and friendly that it stands out. Always wanted to go to the Troubadour, now we have. Can't wait till next time

There are many historic, amazing music venues in Hollywood, but the Troubadour is one of my favorites. You walk in and can feel the history. It's small, and even if you are at the back of the room you still aren't more than 30 feet away. There's a nice upstairs area as well.Because the room is fairly small, they don't need to crank the bass and drums to heart-stopping levels. The sound mix is really solid.Parking is a nightmare in the neighborhood. Just pay the 10 bucks and go through the valet.

The Troubadour still feels like your on the cutting edge of music when you see a show there. They are booking bands that are becoming the next big things at the moment. I had never been there before the Seasick Steve show and it was phenomenal evening. I got to meet the performer and shake his hand before the show, the venue was intimate, had a cool vibe, got to chat with some nice tourist folks before the show, it sounded pretty good for that type of venue, and Luther Dickinson came out from the North Mississippi All Stars and jammed with Steve. One of the great things about the club is the surprise performances. The one problem with the Troubadour is the parking. Although I think its understandable because they didn't plan to deal with modern LA traffic when they built the club. I'll definitely be back to see more shows.

Coming over from the UK to see a Aussie band we didn't know what we were getting. But we got a proper music venue just like we get at home. Friendly helpful staff. Great atmosphere in the venue and the band were great. Really lively and totally worth the visit. Yay!

I have a list of about 20 live music clubs I'd like to visit. One of them is now marked off the list, The Troubadour in West Hollywood, CA (LA). This is one of those clubs that has seen so many bands and been around so long that it warrants going there just because of the place itself. It doesn't hurt to also see some great live music while there as well. The club is small enough to be "intimate" but large enough to be "rowdy". No matter where you are sitting (upper level) or standing, you are close to the stage. The night I went I was lucky enough to see Los Straightjackets and then Dave Alvin (formerly of The Blasters). Great show, great venue. If you like Americana Music, alt-country and rock check out the schedule if you are in LA, or just go no matter who is playing!

In our modern world of digital music and video on demand - it's comforting to know that one of the great venues that introduced most of the acknowledge masters of rock, pop, jazz and country have performed in the intimate confines of Doug Weston's Troubador. The calendar of artists is eclectic and priced accordingly. Ticket prices can be from $15 and up - and no drink minimum usually (it could be the shows that I select) but as this is a small club - no more than 300 people split between a central stage (standing only), an enclosed Loft and Lodge area with limited seats, the environment is always warm! Depending on your willingness to stand in line before the doors open as there are no reservations, you can stand stagefront, and truly see great music being made before your eyes. If you stand at the back - then you're maybe 10-12 people from the stage. The sound is above average, and in general, its a very friendly environment. If you're a visitor to LA, check the website and look at the upcoming artists and book soon as so many nights are sold out. Who know's maybe you'll be at a first performance of an artist following in Sir Elton John's footsteps.

Revered, old, and intimate. The ghosts of the great are still rattling in the darkened corners of the old building. Stopped in to catch a Cake performance and had a memorable time. The audience definitely carries the influence of the band, warm and energized with the lyrics that everyone sings along with John McCrea. The Troubadour is small and informal and strikes the right note when it comes to putting the crowd in contact with a band like Cake. It almost feels like you are sitting in their garage while they are trying out some new music.

My ex-wife was from the Valley (Toluca Lake) , we went to the Troub regularly, sometimes taking some squares along from Whittier where we lived (she was a friend of Phil Spector) - we saw Lightfoot, Dylan, Miles, so many more - the most memorable was the night Willie Nelson arrived late and ran over so far the second show wouldn't go on - they had to de-tune and go out the back door. There were lots of black cowboy hats inside and pick-ups in the parking lots around the club. I hope there were no casualties.
