this is a small place, but still fun to look through. it is very basic and seems like it might need some funding to add style and such. but still fun for a few minutes to check it out and interesting if you aren't worried about flashiness.

The museum is actually a bookstore and a coffee shop, the museum is on the second floor and is super small, not much to look around. But the bookstore is cute with the nice smell of coffee.

The museum is on the second floor of a book store. It has lots of Anderson's book on display as well as information about Anderson. Of course new ones for sell as well. The book store is pretty neat, has a printing machine on display. Nice cozy place to visit if you love books. My kids had enjoyed the visit.

You always hear that the orginal versions of the Disney fairytales are way darker. Well here at this museum you get a little history behind the popular creater Hans Christian. From Tumbelina to The Little Mermaid to The Snow Queen to The Ugly Ducking. A little bit of history in the loft of a library/coffe shop

This place is worth a visit for anyone who likes books. It's free, small, interesting, and you can grab a coffee at the cafe downstairs or just browse through the isles with all the cool used as well as new books(for all ages not just for children) that are for sale. I bought 4 adorable pop-up books for my niece.

Very sparse. Disappointed. Expected much more. Had heard it was well worth seeing, not so. Maybe sow more research into his life.

This museum is tucked away. But worth looking for. It is small and has books for sale. Don't miss it.

...you will like this museum. Most of the exhibts are just photos and descriptive material, but I find that interesting. There's a collection of books by Andersen and a few other artifacts. It's not the grandest museum, but here's why four stars: The bookstore that houses it is wonderful! One of the highlights of my trip to Solvang ws chatting with the man behind the counter and enjoying the experience of an independent bookstore. Four stars for the entire experience--the cozy stacks, the conversation, the inviting stairway, and the veneration of a great author.

Before coming here, I had read the comments from other tripadvisor contributors, so I was kind of already prepared to be somewhat underwhelmed by what I would find here. That being said, I actually thought this place had its own charm. We were the only ones who were in the museum, so we leisurely perused the displays. I liked seeing all the different HC Andersen books. My husband was not familiar with any of HC Andersen's work, so it was neat to look at the impressive variety of books, for both adults and children, and appreciate the body of work that the talented HC Andersen produced. It is by no means a glossy, polished museum, but it succeeds at giving visitors an introduction to HC Andersen, and I found it a nice place to visit. I'm glad there is a museum like this in Solvang, and, although not fancy, it serves its purpose to share the story of a talented author who shared his stories with the world. There's also a charming bookstore downstairs. The staff was very friendly, and we enjoyed perusing the "Book Loft." There's also a café there that I heard was good. We were too full to be able to eat anything, but I think that would definitely be a nice place to sit for a moment before or after visiting the museum and/or bookstore.

Enjoyed reading about HC Andersen and seeing his children's books, especially The Little Mermaid, The Emperor's New Clothes, and The Princess and the Pea. I could spend hours in this bookstore!

It was free and easy to get to so I didnt waste much time. However this is not really a museum. It is a poorly laid out room with a giant HCA head and lots of books. Not set up or presented well at all.

It's a small place but I think more can be done to make it easier for the tourist to discover tit-bits of information

I have loved Hans Christian Andersen books since I was young and also loved the Danny Kaye film so was quite excited to visit the museum. It is above a book shop and is free although you can make a donation to its upkeep. There is not a lot to see and it only took me 10 minutes to view everything and that is really because I lingered. If you are in Solvang and have the time have a look but don't go out of your way to visit even if you are a fan of H.C.A.

By far, the most non informative museum I have been to . Not worth the time. There are lots of things to do in Solvang, so spend time there..

No charge. Lots of things to read. Above a wonerful bookshop. Not young child friendly. Unfortunately, also quite hot on a hot day.
