Very nice wines here - they do outsource many of their grapes. Their dessert wine in particular is quite good. If you're into wine and came to Julian for some apple pie, you're missing out if you don't stop here. Friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices, and good wine - the trifecta.

Wonderful little out of the way place with friendly and very accommodating owners. They did everything to make our trip enjoyable. Four beautiful and well behaved canines friends to show you around. The owner brought out a beautiful 193? Pierce Arrow for us to see and photograph. What an extra special treat! The wine was very nice and I am NOT a wine drinker. Went for the photography but did come back with a yummy dessert wine I could not resist. I will share at our next family gathering.

We love wine and have been all over California. That said, this is a real find outside of Solvang area wineries for Southern California. We were really surprised by both reds and whites and enjoyed everything about our experience. The tastings are in galvanized steel barn and offered out of steel tubs with ice. The people are great and affable and we bought 6 bottles, and gave 2 to our bed and breakfast hosts. We strongly recommend it.

Don't let the title throw you. I really enjoyed our visit to this winery. Of course, I enjoy visits to just about ANY winery. We got five tastings per person for five dollars per person. All of the wines we tasted were delightful, but our favorite was the Petit Syrah and we bought a bottle of that to bring home. The winery is an operating winery and there are huge stainless steel vats inside full of various varietals either fermenting or aging. While they own their own vineyards, most of their grapes are sourced from other vineyards. Certainly nothing wrong with that as long as the product is good. The building that houses the winery and the tasting room is, well, rustic. We can even call it rustic and charming. There are a bunch of things for purchase and some artifacts to examine. And yes, there was indeed a pile of fresh dog poop right in the middle of the floor. As charming as the doggie is, THAT was less than charming. While I think it is great that the pups have the run of the winery, that is an issue that should have received immediate attention.Although I did not have time to check it out, I understand there is an area behind the winery where you can enjoy a picnic. One couple who had obviously been there before came in, bought a bottle, took it to the picnic area and had their little picnic. Enjoy your visit, but be careful where you step!

Lovely little winery off the beaten Julian path. Generous tasting for the price and delightful wines. We brought 3 home. One of the main reasons I wanted to visit the area was to tour some wineries (there are several) and this was one of the few that was open that day so I'm grateful for that. Adorable pup on the premises which I adore. They do some innovative and interesting events here during the year and of course weddings. Really glad we visited and great to bring a taste of Julian home with us.

Menghini winery is a little ways out of town but well worth it. You have to drive a bit but the senery is worth it! We have been twice and enjoyed the wine both times. First time there was a small little puppy but by the next time he was full grown and a sweetheart of a dog! They have a nice wine tasting area and it makes for a nice little adventure too! Plan on going again in a month during apple season!

I spent a relaxing afternoon here and took a tour of the place and sample a lot of wine. The wine was absolutely delicious. I often think about that wine, because I haven't tasted such delicious wine since - well one other place. This place is not too far from the scenic and quaint town of Julian where I was staying for a week.

After the HORRIBLE service we had at Witch Creek, we were not sure about this place. But, they were very friendly, and quickly made us forget the bad service we had received. at the other wineryThis place was like a blast of fresh air. Super nice, and super informative, they actually talked about their wines, and talked to everyone that came into the winery. This place gets an A++++++ for service.

off the beaten road. They actually make some of the wine in the wine tasting area. You could smell the wine when you were walking up to the old wooden buliding. They had two old cars outside the building from the 4th of July parade. They just seemed to fit in so well with the old buliding. Also had the cutest dog (desperado) there when you walked up. He was only 3 months old and so playful. You felt like you were visting your families home

Two of my friends and I visited Menghini Winery together. One of my friends decided to do the wine tasting and really enjoyed the wines. There was one wine that she didn't like because she said it was too sweet. I am not by any means a judge or expert in anyway with wine because I rarely drink alcohol and don't particularly care for wine. I asked to taste the one that she said was too sweet. It was Fools Gold. It was the most delicious wine I have ever had and I actually bought a bottle. This shocked my other friend (she knows I don't care for wine) so much that she asked to taste Fools Gold also. She thought it was so delicious that she also bought a bottle. When we all returned to our hotel and my husband found out I bought a bottle of wine, he was shocked too. When he tasted it he understood why I had bought it. If you like light fruity dessert wine this would definitely be the one to try. 5 Stars from me. :)

The trip to this winery is quite scenic and worth the effort. It's been in business for quite a number of years and has always had great wines, reasonably priced. The tasting room personnel are friendly and helpful and I'm sure you'll find a visit was worth the time and effort.

Liked the wine. Met the owners there. Staff was friendly. Over all a nice time

The Menghini winery is a full on winery, big vats and small vats, and tasting, and a delightful staff (sometimes the owners). the wines are good, fresh and young (no oak I think) and quite popular..

This location was beautiful, everyone was amazing...we can't wait to come out for the music festivals this summer.
