The Historical Society offers a scavenger hunt around the town that you turn in once completed for a chance to win $50! The scavenger hunt is fun, informative, and dog friendly!! I would absolutely reccommend that first time visitors visit the Historical Society and go on the hunt!

Go early in the day when the festival starts to secure a decent parking spot. We arrived about noon and left at 4. Entertainment was fabulous. Very quaint. Many many tourist trap shops and as the day goes on, the sidewalks are almost impassable for the throngs of people. I wish I had done research on places to eat before our arrival. Two places were basically rude and one literally slammed the door in our face when we inquired about seating. The place we finally selected for lunch was just not good. We had a nice time and the weather was perfect. Of course we had pie at the Julian Pie Co and that was heaven! If you are not comfortable in crowds and cramped little stores, this event is not for you. Also, it costs 25 cents to use a restroom, but since lines were long, most people held the door for the next person.

Comprehensive look back in to Julian past and see the present history of this California Classic Gold mining town which now harvests apples.

Meander through the town, the building, museums and shops in Fall. Great experience for a hour or two of small town history and culture. Very unique, loved the shops and restaurants. Easy to find parking throughout the town on a busy Sunday afternoon. Enjoyed a piece of delicious Apple Pie and bought unique jewelry from the little stores. It was alittle windy and cold, I was there the end of September and the road trip up Hwy 79 was absolutely awesome with Lake Cuyamaca and the curvy roads.

Pick up a walking tour map at the chamber of commerce. Then follow the points on the map. The whole thing takes less than an hour. It's a little hokey and may not entertain kids much, but it's a nice activity. You can visit the cemetary up on the hill.... it's not that well cared for but there is a great view from up there of the town.

I discovered the historic buildings of Julian on a trip when we didn't have time to stop, so the next time through we allowed extra time. The Julian Historical Society is headquartered in an old school building on a hill top. This building has lots of historic photos and a few exhibits. A few steps away is the Grosskopf House. You can't wank through, but it's easy to peak in the windows at the rooms full of historic objects. The Stage Line Museum is also just a few steps away and sometimes displays an antique bus. Within a few steps is the unrelated Julian Pioneer Museum. Also nearby are mine tours, the historic cemetery, a train ride, and a little futher north, Mission Santa Ysabel. And if you aren't interested in history, Julian has shops and food and is a popular tourist destination.

Goed aangeduid, in goede staat, leuk!
