    在旧金山住了快3年,终于想来试试它的表演水平,这次果然没令人失望,水凖很高,下次要买贵一点的票都值。

The opera house is located beside City Hall-great architecture to be appreciated around the Civic centre-exercise care if you are walking north of this area around the Tenderloin1

SF Opera nearly always has tickets available, so don't think that because you don't have tickets you can't go. Just go online and buy some! Get the best you can afford. Warning, it can be very hot in the Balcony.....SF Opera is high up in artistic accomplishment, usually putting on a fabulous show. You don't have to dress up, but you can, this is SF after all where anything goes. SF Opera wants you to have the opera experience, to understand it and to enjoy it. Opera House itself is beautiful, and don't forget to have a glass of bubbly before the opera or during intermissions

The building is beautiful. We went to see the Nutcracker in December and it was decorated for the season. Which made the building even more elegant.

I surprised my wife on her birthday and took her to the italian version of Cinderella by Gioachino Rossini at the SF Opera. Was a beautiful experience and we loved every bit of it! However, I rate it Very Good and not Excellent simply because of the seats. The seats were pretty old and felt very hard. The leg room is super low. If you are 180cms + like me you might have to stretch quite a bit when the break comes by. We were in the Dress Circle. However, the Opera was simply beautiful and I cannot put in words about how much of a visual feast it was. The tiny store selling food had nice veggie sandwiches ( I am vegetarian, so this part was important) and other sandwiches too. They even had a full bar. If you do have the chance and time, don't miss it while you are here! It is a GRAND experience for sure!

I was very lucky to watch La Boheme in November. Oh, it was an amazing experience. I bought a 87$ ticket and i thought that it was very expensive! At the end of night i did not regret about that...

My first "real" opera - and what fun! I have no idea what took me 55 years to finally attend the opera. Perhaps it was a fear that it would be "an acquired taste". How silly of me. La Boheme was witty, funny (the audience laughs!), spirited, a visual treat, and what amazing voices. I was thrilled. There is simply no way to describe what a treat opera is for all the senses. Costumes, stage sets, symphony and the absolute most amazing voices - sends chills down your spine.I was the guest of a long time patron of the arts, and thought it wise not to even ask my husband if he'd like to attend, thinking he would merely politely suffer through it. What a mistake! Everyone from children to reticent husbands would love this performance. It had a little bit of everything- and although composed in the 1800's, there were lines in this opera that could have been overheard in modern day America. Some things never change. I'm hooked. Cannot wait to attend another performance. Next time I'll go early and have appetizers in the dining area. What a wonderful, entertaining evening.

The setting is amazing, the cast and orchestra were superb. The downstairs facility for snacks and drinks was elegant and fun for the kids.

We bought one season, decided it wasn't for us but they keep calling and calling trying to get us to renew. It's sad really....

Yes it was a great evening, the Opera is well staffed to keep the crowed moving. The opera itself was very entertaining.

Was taken by a local to see la Boheme which was delightful. Simple but clever sets and the cast were fabulous.

We saw Rossini's Cinderella and it was very well played and performed. The accoustics were very good and the opera house a pleasure to be in. An overall perfect experience surrounded by well dressed, friendly people.

Even if you are not an Opera aficionado you should do yourself a favor and attend a world class opera in this very beautiful beaux arts building. I had been here once several years ago and had forgotten just how wonderful a place this is. And, there is also a lecture by a music scholar approximately 1.5 hours before each performance. This takes place in the orchestra section. During our visit the gentleman was from Italy. He was both knowledgeable and had a wonderful sense of humor. There are many educational and community oriented programs offered by SF Opera. You can read about them on their website. It's impressive. First off - we started with a buffet dinner in the Cafe at the Opera [see my review - 'You don't have to sing for your supper'] and then we were lucky enough to attend Cinderella with an outstanding cast. I am not a big Opera fan but love live theater of any kind and enjoy the spectacle aspect of Opera. But, as wonderful as this was - I must say the building is a must see if you are a fan of this architecture and have also had the opportunity to visit SF City Hall - which is just across the street. The staff here is wonderful and will gladly help you to your seat, rest rooms, bar, cafe, elevator, stairways, etc. I will say that when the fans or a/c come on you may be under or near a vent. As a result, you may want to bring a shawl or jacket with you - especially if you are seated in one of the balconies. We were in the first row of the Dress Circle. To my chagrin, at $128/pp this was not such a great seat. It was a long way looking down to the stage. I could not tell from the floor plan on the website just how good or not good these seats would be as it had been a long time since I had been there. As a result - my advice is to sit anywhere in the Orchestra, if possible, and the seats are available. Regrettably there were no better tickets when I bought mine unless we bought Box Seats and this just was not an option. There are many restrooms throughout the building and the intermission seemed long enough to facilitate the needed number of patrons. However, you should be aware that the doors to the theater will not be opened once the performance has begun. Thus, it is necessary to plan ahead both for arrival as well as the intermission re restrooms, ordering drinks at the bar or whatever. Drinks for the intermission may be ordered ahead of time. And, if I am not mistaken, you may be able to do so on the SF Opera website. The only beverage permitted in the theater itself are bottles of water. There are assistive hearing and reading devices which may be requested in advance. And, Opera glasses my be rented for $5.00/per performance. I do not recall if the Opera glasses can be reserved in advance on the website. And, the SF Opera has many programs in place to ensure accessibility for its patrons. This is a first class opera company and we should be proud. There are many places to park in the area including the Civic Plaza Garage. This seems to be a pretty safe area at night but it is always a good practice to be aware of your surroundings. Additionally, while the sidewalks have recently been patched and upgraded in some places, remain vigilant for uneven pavement so the Opera itself is what remains memorable. Going to the Opera in SF is a wonderful experience and I will look forward to our next time.

Inventive staging, a well-considered mixture of class grand opera and more modern pieces. Regularly present some of the world's finest singers. The opera house itself is visually spectacular with good acoustics to match.

This is a wonderful building. We took a tour and got to see the entire building, backstage and everything. We also were able to get seats for the Cinderella production. Very good.
