Such a lovely spot. Visited with my daughter and granddaughters. Volunteers are friendly. My granddaughter makes sure to say hello to Gwen each visit. Buildings, fountains and plants are well cared for.

Not a huge place to visit but worth the trip especially in spring when so many things are blooming. The demonstration gardens are always worth checking out. New plants to see and appreciate. Love the vegetable garden as well. Nice paths and great to take toddlers and young kids.

Has class field trips. Nice gardens and nce to walk around and see it. Come for 10-20 minutes to have a nice walk and chat with a friend.

Be sure to walk around the neighborhood -- lots of interesting houses, some under construction. Toilets are open only on weekdays, so plan accordingly. Although you might find a construction port-a-potty available, we saw one that was unlocked.

Gamble Gardens are wonderful to walk to from Cowper Inn, where I stayed. The garden is always planted with the plants for the current season and shows some of the plants that grow in the Palo Alto area, including fruits and vegetables.

I get really into learning about new plants, so I looked up the botanical garden closest to me, and decided to check this one out. I have to say, I was kind of disappointed. Some roses, some common garden plants, but really nothing to write home about. When I'd looked around enough I decided to wander the posh neighborhood surrounding the garden. That was definitely more fun. If you want a botany lesson, this is not the place. IF you just want some flowers, Gamble has them. Overall, I felt like the place was built so that people could rent it for weddings.

Drove by and saw the sign so we decided to stop. It was past closing time but was still open (and free) which made it very nice. The Gardens are beautiful and had many flowers blooming. We enjoyed the scenery and beauty. We sat on the benches and just relaxed.

I have visited Elizabeth F. Gamble Garden many times, It is so beautiful there with lots of flowers., The gardens as a whole are beautiful. The volunteers there do an amazing job of maintaining this breathtaking garden. There is also an old house on the property.

GAMLE GARDEN is a very nice place to visit if you enjoy gardens, They have a very nice variety of plants, and you can go in the old house and stroll through .Each spring they do a garden tour, which is excellent for garden lovers.

This is a beautiful garden, not far from downtown Palo Alto. The property was bequeathed and is now looked after by a trust and an enthusiast group of volunteers. In May the gardens were a profusion of colour, with many cottage garden plants in flower. While we were there an artist was set up and sketching and painting, gaining inspiration from the many flowers. The garden is set out in rooms. In keeping with California's Mediterranean type climate, there is a developing series of garden beds being planted with plants from the different Mediterranean regions. The big house has been well kept and serves scones and tea at different times. There is plenty of shade in summer.

Had a visit here and it was very lovely. Quiet garden to walk round at leisure but missed the teas. A great place for a break.

This is a beautiful old home surrounded by stunning gardens which are open to the public, close to downtown Palo Alto. If you aren't a plant lover, skip it. If you love a quiet walk in a peaceful setting, come and settle in for an hour or two.

The Gamble Gardens is a sweet resource for locals and visitors. It's a great place to walk to and walk through on a regular basis to get a sense of what's growing in the garden. Additionally, there are a number of events that are lovely throughout the year, lunches, fairs, etc., with music, art, antiques, food, yes, and even sometimes educational gardening events. They even have a master gardener with weekly office hours. Have a pest problem on a plant? Bring in an affected leaf for a diagnosis. Need a sip of water on a walk at the half way mark? It's a lovely neighborhood oasis. What a thoughtful and generous gift to the community from the Gamble family.

When we visited in late May, roses and lavender were in full bloom. The wisteria area looked lush but flowering was over. Some beds, particularly those leading to the gazebo, were very well planted and exuberant while other areas looked neglected and somewhat bare. There were many different "rooms" with different types of plantings and quite a few plants were labeled.Free entry, open during daylight hours, no toilets, shop or café although there were plants for sale. Just a big house on a big plot ( nearly 3 acres); buildings and gardens were soothing and agreeable. What a piece of paradise it must have been like to live in this property.

These gardens are a great thing to have so close to the middle of town, and if you live near by even better. This is a spot I recommend to people from out of town who just want to walk around Palo Alto, starting and ending in downtown.
