The lagoon is littered with debris, sharp concrete and weeds. The people working are great. Very laid back. Paddle boarding was great.Sink some money into the amenities and get your vibe back

This is such a fun place. We rent kayaks and head east down the lagoon. So much fun, if you have boats, but you can also jet ski!! The water is really warm in the summer and the boat rental shop has created a really nice ambiance with chairs and tables. They have a surf shop if you need anything from shorts to shandals. Price for Kayak was 20.00 an hour last time we were there.

There is so much to see and do here at the Carlsbad Lagoon. The staff is friendly and the place is fairly clean. We had such a wonderful time with friends here.

Beautiful and well maintained trail around the lagoon. Lovely old trees. Lots of dog walkers. A great place to get some fresh air and enjoy the great outdoors.

One of the best kept secrets in Carlsbad. Even though you can see it from the I-5 not many people know how much this pretty lagoon has to offer. First they have a very active Lagoon Assoication. Fundraising events and environmental awareness help keep the lagoon a safe and a protected wetland. There is an off leash dog beach off of Park Drive. Great place for the pooches and talking dog talk with the locals. One of my favorite events of the year is the Lagoon Christmas Boat parade in Bristol Cove. (Mini Newport Beach type waterfront neighborhood) Parties, bands, thousands of lights, decorated boats, and some renegade fireworks starts off season right!! If you are lucky enough to get invited to any of the many parade night parties ..then you are lucky enough!!!

This is a great place to take your stand up paddle and just tool around. There is also an area to rent them if you don't own them. There is water skiing and jet ski's available for rent as well.

I loved this place. I am a Texas girl and I have never been out on the water like that. I am a thick woman and I felt really comfortable with my husband and the ski's were super fun. I am 45 years old and I don't know why I haven't ever tried it before. One entry checked off my bucket list!!

I live on Maui and while visiting family in San Diego......I got to take a stand up paddle board out on a very nice day! It's Fall, so it was very quiet and that was great! The water was calm and I paddled all the way down to the marsh where I visited with a flock of sea birds. The water isn't clear or warm, but it was great to get out paddling. The only drawback is that if anyone is racing around on jet skis, it is a bumpy ride back to shore! I would definitely go paddling there again. You can also rent kayaks and other sport equipment.

If you are renting something you have to paddle, head towards the marsh area. There is a lot to explore over there and a lot of cool wildlife. The crabs live along the mud walls and are fun to look for. There are various "canal" paths you can follow. We you are going against the tide it is a pretty tough workout (at least if you are not used to this kind of stuff [we aren't]) so time your trip back appropriately.Nobody was particularly helpful, so if you know what you are doing you will be better off. If you don't you may need to ask for more guidance and assistance than they are willing to offer. "Just take this slip to the beach," was lost on me. Take it it to who on the beach? I was standing out there a good 5 minutes trying to figure out who worked there and could help. I finally found someone sitting with a clipboard and walked over to him to provide my sticky note. Then I was told to walk back to where I was before. No one notified us when our kayak was ready. No one helped us in or gave us any kind of explanation. We finally figured it out and were on our way. When we returned no one came up to us and said anything. We pulled the kayak ashore and left. Not sure if there was something more official to that.

Great place to go and rent water equipment to play in the bay. We rented a paddle board for $30.00 for an hour, which was enough time for a beginner.

This is one out of three lagoons in Carlsbad. This one in particular is great for all kinds of water sports, kayaking, water bikes, pedal boats, jet ski. The lagoon is about 2 miles from Tamarack Beach and many very good restaurants. Lots to do!

Having grown up in MI canoeing from childhood on, we enjoyed cooling off during our recent hot spell at the convenient Carlsbad Lagoon. We took advantage of a discount coupon which gave us two hours to explore for the cost of one. We were given a heavy gauge red plastic two person canoe, with solid wood paddles and two life vests, and we were off and paddling. When we were through, we relaxed out of the sun on a shady deck they have overlooking the lagoon. We met others, most whom were travellers, some who were back for their second day of fun. The lagoon also rents water trikes, one and two person kayaks, paddle boards and jet ski's.

You can either rent or bring your own equipment. If you bring your own (kayaks, or stand up paddleboards) you can launch for free from Bristol cove. Parking is on the street, but usually available.

You can go fishing in the lagoon or walk across the street to some awesome beaches I love Carlsbad California

Carlsbad Lagoon is easy to get to off the freeway. Groupon's available which is great! Parking is great. The rental porcess is really easy we were in the water in 15 minuets on a holiday weekend. There was no training needed and no life jackets handed out. We were experienced so that was fine but it made me nervous for beginners. It was great exersice and we had fun!
