An old California district with one of the original California Missions in the center of it. An easy stroll along Mission Blvd, visit the Mission and enjoy the food and beautiful weather - some of the best in the Bay Area.

Interesting building and exhibits. An unexpected find is the number of Irish who were buried in the mission cemetery. Most must have come to California during the potato famine in Ireland. This is not the best of all of the missions but well worth the visit.

This is a well preserved mission with good exhibits and artifacts. The office staff was helpful and actually directed us another way as we went the exact time as a school group of small children who were being school children. The outside grounds are well maintained as is the mission exterior. Another great stop on our mission to see all the missions mission.

I loved the experience and the tour gave me a lot of ideas for building his mission! The staff were wonderful. The sweet catholic lady was able to explain what a saint was and help my son pick out an affordable souvenir.

I'm on a mission to see all 21 missions. Today got an opportunity to see #4 for me. I love reading all the stories of the families. I learned something new that one could pay for a name plaque for a spot at a certain pew in the church. Also it's so awe inspiring to walk into the church and walk through. The cemetery.

My husband and I came here for a visit the last day of January 2015. We really enjoyed visiting Mission San Jose. It offers wonderful and interesting displays pertaining to the Ohlone Indians and church life. I enjoyed see the church, grounds, and cemetery.

The missiom has been renovated many times over the years due to the age and earthquakes. It's still authentic enough to get the feel of the time the mission was in use. Grat history of the Native Americans from the surrounding areas and all the local area as well. The chapel is where the founder of Livermore is buried. He donated a lot of money to the mission and the area. This is just a good place to get history of the San Jose/Fremont areas.

The outlook of the church tells that it has a history as it looks different from the churches nowaday. But few things interesting I can find inside. The place is so small that I finished the visit within an hour.

Very beautiful outlook. However, it is not that delicate inside. Some exhibits are interesting, but not many.

Mission San Jose is in Fremont and was founded in June 1797 by Father Fermin Francisco de Lasuen. It is the 14th of the 21 Spanish Missions in Alta California. The mission was built to secure Spain's claim to the land, as well as to teach the local people then about Christianity and Spanish life style.Today mass is still held there. We have attended some beautiful weddings at the mission. In addition, you can visit a small museum there and see the mission. To do the latter, a small fee (currently 5 dollars) is charged to see the museum and inside of the mission.

My husband, a native of Southern California, took me to this old Spanish Mission over Thanksgiving weekend. It was well worth the trip. Very interesting piece of old California history, about which I knew very little. The little museum was very informative. Sadly, the gift shop does not cater to tourists as it was largely religious items, however there were a few history books and some postcards.

Fremont is a residential city, but recently the city is been stepping up to the plate in having its residents spend those dollars in Fremont rather than San Jose or other nearby major cities.Mission however, is a totally different story. It has been in Fremont from the beginning and it defies Fremont's long history. If you live in Fremont or near by towns you owe it to your self to know how it started, and visit a few of the several hundred year old bernal sites. The church is completely rebuilt using the original blue prints after the original was destroyed due to natural reasons. The rebuild church resembles the original in every way and it is a great place to take a few pictures. This is a safe and educational place for the entire family, though the young ones may want to skip the historical cemetery, unless this is a learning exercise for them.

It is fun to find history in Fremont! The Mission has been beautifully restored. The original was damaged by earthquakes and weather. They rebuilt it very well. The murals and fittings have been restored. They are spectacular. The history that goes with the Missions is grim but interesting. The side buildings and the cemetery are also well worth the visit. This is the perfect Mission to bring your Fourth grader to visit. It is easy to get to and interesting.
