Recently went there and it is about a mile walk but if you have a handicap placard or plate, you can drive all the way up. While we were there we had 5 deer standing right next to us. We picked up some plants and they walked right up to us and we got to feed them.

we really liked this trail! there's some hilly area, some large stone walk area, basically just enough to keep it interesting and a bit more than just a flat trail, but not so much to be a challenge. You pretty much stay close to the rivers and with so many things to see along the way. Plenty of small nooks & boulders to play around on to keep the young ones interested & having fun. Mirror Lake ( much closer to a large pond), was so neat to see! We got some great reflecting pictures. This is a trail that I would really like to go on again. bring a breakfast/lunch, this would be a great spot to enjoy it at!

This was an easy hike through the trails. It looked like you could also walk along the road and see it from the other side, but the trail adds a lot of interest and things to see.

A peaceful hike around the Mirror Lake loop is awesome in February. We came across 4 beautiful bucks grazing near the lake, and two does in the meadow. The reflection of the mountain peaks in the lake make perfect landscape photos for our gallery!

If you're looking for an easy "hike" mirror lake is your best bet. Love walking along the lake, up into the forest, over the rushing river bridge, and making the circle around the lake. Take a lunch and picnic along the way but watch for bears!

We started walking up the road and then joined the trail which was labelled as a mile but felt longer as there were several ups and downs and at times uneven ground. Not a difficult walk though. The end result is lovely with Mirror Lake being very tranquil and spacious enough to lose your fellow hikers. Wish we'd taken a packed lunch to enjoy whilst up there. Note you have to come back down the trail and cannot traverse the lake to join the road...unless you fancy getting wet!

Most walkers/hikers probably start at the free shuttle bus stop nearby, but the buses are so crowded in Spring and Summer, i usually walk from the Ahwahnee or the old apple orchard at the large Curry Village parking lot.(Beware of bears and never ever leave food or smelly stuff in your car overnight !!)The paved steep zig zags of the Snow Creek trail opposite Half Dome will give you more exercise and a fantastic new perspective on Half Dome, like Marin Headlands view of SF and the Golden Gate Bridge(see Pt. Bonita for the truly adventurous).Brings lots of water.Beware of loose gravel on paved trails , so wear proper thin lugged Vibram soled shoes.

Beautiful. Almost no one around in winter. Saw a couple of photographers. Very easy walk. About 1.4 mile each way from the Ahwahnee. Relaxing.

The Mirror Lake/Meadow Trail is a must to see for every visitors to Yosemite Park. This beauty will really take your breath away. The trail is not recommended for less adventurous people but for those who are up for challenge and adventure, this is a treat for you. The entire national park has a lot to offer, it is better to plan which month to visit, number of days of stay and what type of adventure the group really wants to do.

Difficult to give a proper rating as it was all but dried up when I visited. Despite the fact that there wasn't a drop in it (pretty bad for a lake, eh) I thoroughly enjoyed walking in its bed and see what is normally underwater. Obviously, I couldn't see why it got the name Mirror Lake which is disappointing, but the whole site is just simple astonishing and even without the water I enjoyed exploring it. Apparently, it is absolutely normal in late summer for some of the waterfalls, brooks and lakes in the valley to lose some or all their water, but when the more wet season arrives they come back to life again. I was unfortunate to have visited in a very dry period and even in October to see an empty lake bed. I was advised that late March and April is the best time to see these watery attractions at their best, although that time of the year a t-shirt and shorts may not be enough.

Take the long way in through the woods. If you just walk along the road you'll be missing out on a very nice hike through the forest. When I got to mirror lake it was completely dry, but I wasn't in the least bit disappointed because I could walk out into the middle of what would usually be under water and see things from a unique perspective. I can't wait to go back again when it's an actual lake. I'd highly recommend the hike to mirror lake. Bring your camera!!

Park the car and walk along the pathway to Mirror Lake. Lacking in water on the day we visited the dry lake bed did not detract in anyway to the majestic beauty of the place. It is a beautiful walk worthy of an hour or two of anybody's time. A time to take photos or watch for the abundant wild life or marvel at the dramatic rise of the Half Dome from the valley floor. It is one of a number of walks that we undertook as vistors to this part of the U.S, and another that I would strongly recomend.
