we finally made it to this museum when it was open and we enjoyed it very much, it is definitively not for kids as the space is limited but if you have the patience to look carefully at all the items you will and you truly enjoy it then you will have a great time

How nice is this. A little nugget in town that has all sorts of interesting collectibles. Its always nice to see well maintained museums in rural areas. Auburn honors its vets.

For a small town, Sonora has a very interesting military museum that is worth a visit. I believe all but the American Revolution are represented here. We even had a Medal of Honor winner living here in the county.

this museum is a must see for everyone. I am NOT easily impressed with anything and I rarely give excellent reviews on anything but this small building, in a small town is a very big museum. I will be donating some of familys papers and items. I was just blown away. we have been there once and are going back tomorrow. A definite place to take flat landers when they come to visit. GOD bless the vets for doing all the work so we can see history. amazing!!

The folks that have put this together are very caring vets. They have done a good job of collecting artifacts and providing documentation.

Take the time to visit the Sonora Military Museum at the Veterans Memorial Hall. If you are ex military you will be suprised how much there is to see in a very small museum. All the wars are on display with artifacts and donations by local service members. It just shows how a small community shares it's respect for our service members past and present. Thank you Sonora.

Wow, this is a small museum but it is sure packed with a lot of information. Mostly consisting of personal donated/loaned items from local veterans. A lot of uniforms and weapons. Pictures, newspaper clippings and personal letters make this museum like a giant scrapbook. The docent that was on duty was very helpful explaining to our family the highlights of each room and the significance of each war.

If you have an afternoon...or preferable a whole day...to browse around this Museum, you will feel fulfilled when you leave. Artifacts and mementos form a vast display of the military in the World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, etc. Take the time to talk to the person on duty and you will learn a lot about the men and women who served their country. This Museum is a diamond in the rough in the town of Sonora. Don't miss it.

We stopped in Sonora for lunch after some other Gold Country adventures. The museum is housed on the first floor of the Veterans building in the heart of old town Sonira. It has tons of military uniforms, equipment, firearms, photos, and models! This is a good stop for anyone interested in military history or militrary veterans. My only complaint is that they need a larger space for it all. The museum is confined to four rooms and takes less than 30 minutes to see, but one could take hours to look at every single thing. Free admission with donations accepted.

Small but good displays for the miliary buff. Right off the main street. Lots to see and ponder. Donations accepted!

This is a small museum, yet it contains some of the most interesting military memorabilia in the area.Quite a fine tribute to our veterans and well worth the time spent.

We visited some time ago, but . . I remember very clearly that we were VERY impressed and glad we took the time to go thru the museum. It covers a number of wars w/a variety of memroblia. We visit Sonora often and wished we'd gone into the museum sooner.
