It broke my heart to see the water down 40 or 50 feet. It is such a pristine area with clear water. I hope we can reverse global warming.

Many of your lakes in Northern California are within the Shata Trinity National Forest. Many wonders and beauty to be see and explored. Hike a short distance or for days, fishing, boating, photos, stories to write and tell. Friendly people and amazing place in all of our State and National Parks.

I would have given five stars if campfires were allowed. I get that the fire danger is currently at extreme level, but it's so mocking to camp in a nice site with a great looking fire pit and not even get to use it! I expected to be able to have a fire, so our meals were campfire based, and I couldn't even prepare any of them. At least we were only there one night. But, as you can see, I still gave four stars despite the campfire annoyance. Why? Everything else about this campground is perfect! We went the Saturday night after Labor Day, so there weren't many other campers. It seems like there wouldn't normally be many people there anyway since Trinity Lake is way out of the way (an hour and a half from I-5). Anyway, we love the quiet and solitude, but I know it's not necessarily a good thing for our parks that not many people are camping in them! Our site was in Loop B, and thus a very short walk right to the lake where we did a fair bit of swimming. The water was nice and warm (for a lake) and even our baby loved it!The sites themselves were spacious and spaced apart from each other a fair bit. There wouldn't have been much privacy if the campground had been more populated though. There were a lot of flies, but hey, that's camping by a lake, right?!I would definitely return if campfires were allowed. Seriously though, what's camping without a campfire??

There are some monster trout and if you can handle the freeze swimming! It is tucked back off the road and is less traveled but super fun to have lunch and fish/swim/camp...it can be very refreashing.

Haven't been there in years due to the fact that we always frequent Shasta Lake since it's 2 1/2 miles from home. Trinity was a nice, wide open lake. Good fishing usually, but crawling up Buckhorn Summit to get there pulling a boat is a pain. They are now starting construction on 299 to straighten that stretch so that would mean easier access to Trinity Lake and beyond.

Incredible views of the Trinity Alps, great campgrounds and water.
