tucked off the Foxen trail,Tres Hermanas winery is unassuming but they make up for it by inventive blends. It is a welcome change and worth stopping by in a land dominated by pinots.

My wife is the wine lover and I'm a beer guy. With that being said, Tres Hermanas was on our list of local wineries to visit. Once my wife was done tasting and picked up a case for home, the owner gave a tour of their facilities---a converted barn for parties etc; an outside "park" for weddings etc.---just real friendly folks & great atmosphere. We'll be back in the fall...!

We bought two cases of wine after a wine tasting. Once home the '06 Syrah had chunks of sediment in the bottle and tasted like it was going bad. The Syrah tasted cheaper than two buck chuck. On another bottle we opened, in opening the bottle, the neck of the bottle shattered where the cork was sitting. Again another first for this 40 year old. We're not going back to that crappy winery. When I called to discuss the issue, they responded to bring back their crappy wine for a credit, but I live 5 hours away...doesn't work....This was a first and last visit.

Welcoming and friendly family run winery. Paulette poured a cuvee Haileigh (Reisling/Gewurtz blend) with a great nose and flavor profile at $14 per bottle. The 2008 Barbera was another excellent offering a bright wine with cherry, tobacco, dry leaves, and a hint of smoke on the finish. I was not a fan of the Syrah offerings. Bought bottles of the cuvee Haileigh and Barbera.

Good wine served by one of the three sisters or their mother.

This was our first (of two) stops along the Foxen Canyon wine trail. While we enjoyed the wines and the small, cozy ranch atmosphere, we did not get the same full-history of the wines, etc. from the owner. Maybe she just wasn't feeling super chatty - we had to ask a lot of questions to get information, not much was volunteered. We were here on a beautiful Thursday in April. It was not crowded at all and they had some good specials on wine. It's definitely a nice, small winery as others have said.

This was my first time visiting Tres Hermanas Winery. Their reds were good and tasting room employees were nice. I would definitely go back.

This was undoubtedly our favorite stop on the Foxen Canyon wine trail. Friendly, well-informed and low-key personnel who shared with us the family and winery history and products. We thought the whites were the best, as we are not into heavy, heavy oak taste. Fume Blanc was our favorite, although they have several very good less sweet ones. We bought cases!

We loved this winery. Everyone was very nice and love the Barbera.

We had a great time shooting at Tres Hermanas for a wedding event. Everyone had full access to the field and the kids especially loved it! The wedding took place under a giant tree and was a great backdrop for the event. You can see some of the photos from the wedding here: http://www.iangrantphotography.com/photography/wedding-photography-gallery/tres-hermanas-winery-wedding.html

Tres Hermanas (Three Sisters) Winery sits halfway between Santa Maria and Los Olivos on Foxen Canyon Rd. The winery/tasting room itself looks like a ranch house. Kind of like the information center for the forest service. Because of the dark wood tones inside the tasting room, the whole room is a bit dark and uninviting. The wines tasted good. $10.00 to taste 6 to 8 wines. Staff was friendly--when my camera battery died, I was offered a free battery a women found in a drawer. The tasting room also has a mechanical riding horse. Good photo opt. They do need better bathrooms--they only have one and you have to share.
