Went as a fairly large group and all enjoyed the 2 for 1 tastings at the wine shack. This is a smaller area but does have picnic tables outside with a beautiful view.

Very scenic drive along the Foxen Canyon Road to get to the Foxen Vineyard wine tasting room. Average wines except for a very good Pinot Noir that was a little bit pricey at $62. Foxen also has a shack further along the road where Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, etc. are served. $10 tasting fee. Very good service. We settled on the 2013 Rose of Mourvedre for $25.

Foxen Vineyard has exceptional wine, and the tasting room is very nice, especially the outdoors area.

This was the only place we visited during our trip where we didn't buy a bottle of wine. That should say it all. Maybe we came during the wrong time... Our server was dealing with multiple groups and apologized several times during our tasting. At one point we considered just walking out in the middle of the tasting.

We had met one of the managers of Foxen Vineyard as while back at a wine event and he gave us 2 for 1 tickets to try their wine tasting so went last weekend. There are two locations along Foxen Canyon Road you can choose from. The "Shack" and right down the road their main tasting room. The shack was full of people so we went to the tasting room. Very pleasant, cordial staff and we enjoyed the tasting outdoors where they hold a large area for people to lounge aroundThey use local grapes, good varietals, crisp whites and full bodied reds. Prices are in line with the main wineries in the area. I was surprised to see their wine clubs were all full and had a waiting list to join. Foxen winery is a premiere winery, the only drag was not being able to join their wine club as we are wine connoisseurs

Was wine tasting with a friend and this was the 3rd stiop on our list. The wines were decent, but the standout was definitely their GSM. Full-bodied with hints of cherry and allspice, I bought 2 bottles!!

After a disappointing wine tour, we made the drive all the way up to this facility. Although they have this legenday "shack" that's been in a bunch of movies, they built this newer, larger facility with a pretty nice, air-conditioned tasting room. They make a big deal about dry farming, including the landscaping, which is nothing much to look at but I suppose is ideal in this drought. Why they had to spend all that money putting a place way out there, instead of saving a lot more water by putting the tasting room in Los Olivos with all the other prestigious places, I can't say. It's also confusing because they pour some wines at one place, some at the other. But it's worth the hassle, the wines live up to their huge reputation. The pinots are particularly amazing, especially the Julia's Vineyard, but you can't really go at all wrong with any of them. The other wines are very good, too, particularly the syrah, but they make a good chenin blanc, not at all like that grocery store garbage that is mostly what you find in chenin. Glad I made the trip, but next time I'll try to find the wine locally.

Foxen Vineyard was a very unique, interesting and favorite stop on our Santa Barbara area wine trail. We don’t even remember when this happened, but at some point we learned that there are two locations for Foxen Vineyard. It was a bit confusing, because we weren't sure which location was expecting us. Eich! Anyway, we just drove and picked one which turned out to be the newer of the two tasting rooms and the larger facility which also housed their winery operation.The land was once used as a horse ranch and still has the visual reminder of this at the 7600 location when you look at the winery and barrel storage areas from the outside. It looks like a very large horse stable that you would likely see at a large ranch or the horse races. This location’s tasting room is very large and has room to handle multiple groups. No feeling crowded here! Now, the other location is a different story as it is entirely a different experience. It is only just down the road about 1 mile. Apparently, it was the original tasting room for over 20 years and was the actual location of the scene in the movie Sideways. When they opened the new, large location about 4 years back they were planning on closing and tearing down the old “shack”, as they fondly call it now, but they received shouts and pleas from folks all around to keep the famous tasting room open. Well, of course we had to stop here and we were so glad that we did!We all recommend that you don’t miss Foxen Vineyards on your wine trail of this area. And you surely should stop at both locations as each has its own appeal. AND they each pour different wines, so just one more reason to stop! We’re sure you will enjoy.

Great wines! You have to check out the little place. It may look like a shed but don't pass it by. Lots of cool memorabliia and very friendly staff.

We have been to Foxen on several occasions, and always had a great time. This visit was to the newer location. We brought wine and cheese to enjoy with our tasting. we went out back to a picnic table, eager to sit down and enjoy the wines and ambiance. Unfortunately, there was a group of 30 somethings nearby who had too much to drink and were creating drama. Also playing loud music. The staff came out twice to hurry them out but they weren't direct enough. Kind of ruined our visit. BUT we will be back. The wines are great. Maybe we'll go down the street to the older tasting house next time.

We thoroughly enjoyed wine tasting this weekend in Santa Maria's Fox Canyon area. We stopped at Foxen Vineyard and had fun tasting several wines and chatting with the Foxen folks. They are very knowledgable of wine and helpful finding just the right one to take home. We were sorry to have missed their Harvest Festival, last week, but still enjoyed our stop at the barn.

We were visiting the area as part of an organized tour but asked to make a special stop at Foxen 7200 (The Shack). We were there on a Sunday after the big harvest festival so I think the crowds were a little busier than normal but we were able to find space at the bar when needed. Special tasting flight for the harvest weekend included 1999 Mamere Vineyard Cab Sauv ($60/bottle) which was awesome! Vibe in the shack is so casual and hippy dippy -- very different than all of the other wineries we visited. Def. worth the visit if only to see what it can be like! Loved our time here and really enjoyed the tasting flight.

We stopped at Foxen and were told there was another "down the road, the barn". I would have liked to check that out. The wines were okay, the staff was friendly but didn't have time for chit chat. They sell glasses with the tasting that are reasonable mementos. And they have fake tattoos of an old anchor, lol The grounds are quaint, as is the tasting room (missed the barn). If traveling through this area, I'd try the barn as it sounded fun. The wines are dry but common for the area, still not my style. Regardless, I'd stop by this place if I am ever in the area.

Just a heads up they have 2 rooms one new 7600 and one old 7200. I did both and enjoyed them. The old one is the one seen in Sideways and looks like an old barn. Servers at both were very nice and knowledgeable. Well worth the drive.

Quite basic facilities with a portaloo but pleasant to sit in the sun. The staff didn't really explain what you were drinking and $10 for 5 mouthfuls of wine was quite expensive. We didn't visit any of the other wineries so it is difficult to compare them
