For a small museum it is not bad, but with my luck I keep showing up on days that parts of it are close. As in any museum there is a need to change the an exhibit or two, so you may want to make sure that you look at the website to make sure that all exhibits are open. Unless you rather be the "just see whatz' up" type of day and just go with the flow. As for the photography, I wish that there would be more to see.

An interesting place to visit. I enjoyed the difference styles of photography. There is great talent within these walls. I play to revisit in the future.

Stopped in to see the cameras etc and found out that it was under repairs. The whole 1st floor was closed. Got to see the 2nd floor photos which were OK and very informative but missed out on what I went to see so will have to go back. Will update when I do.

The CMP is a great place to see exhibitions and to take the kids in downtown Riverside. They always have something new when we go and the kids love the camera obscura, but then who doesn't :)

This is one of my best places to visit in Riverside, they have new galleries every two months. It is nice learning how the photography was invented and has revolutionized nowadays. I love it.

My wife and I are avid photographers and really appreciate the fine art displayed. This museum is awesome!

My husband and I live in Riverside, but we had never visited the museum. Free admission for folks like us over 55. We decided to check it out because it was Ansel Adams' birthday -- and it did not disappoint. Very nice exhibits of historic cameras, new photographic works, interesting exhibits -- adjoining the Sweeney Art Gallery (also free for us). Locate on the pedestrian mall in downtown Riverside, just a block down from the historic Mission Inn and County Courthouse. Cafes and restaurants nearby. A very pleasant afternoon!

Not what you expect, or where you would expect it to be. Very cool and quiet respite from the boiling Riverside temps, you can visit when you need a "refresher", its nice and quiet, not that stimulating for little kids, but enough interesting things for older kids to enjoy, cheap too, I think it only cost us about $5 to get in. look, see. learn. chill.

I'm always impressed with the "innovative" stuff on display...sometimes it's quite "OUT THERE" but hey, what are they supposed to do? Have nothing but Ansel Adams? I always come away with new ideas about WHAT ART IS.

Whenever I'm in town, I try to stop by this museum, and find something interesting there each time. There's a permanent display of early cameras and photography, as well as rotating exhibits, generally of more contemporary photography. It is a fairly small museum; even if you really linger and contemplate the exhibits at a leisurely pace, you can easily make it through in an hour or two. Of course, now it's part of the UCR Arts Block, so if you want to see more, you can continue on to the Sweeney Gallery next door. It's conveniently located right on Main Street, near the Mission Inn, so if you happen to be in the area, and you enjoy good photography, or art in general, it is definitely worth checking out. Admission is always free for kids under 12 and students (with a student ID, naturally). It's free for everybody from 6 to 9 on the first Thursday of the month, and all day on the first Sunday. Regular admission is a mere $3, though, and well worth it. It is closed on Mondays, and every Sunday but the first one of the month.

In association with UCR, this museum is well curated and has launched more than a few exhibits that have gone National. Worth an hour detour. Closed Monday.

This museum has local historic exhibits and cutting edge artist exhibits. I see something new every time I am there. This is one of the places that makes downtown Riverside such a great place to live. Thursday Night Art Walk is a good time to get a feel for the museum, as admission is free to many of the downtown museums.

Had to go there for a school trip.  It was good.  a little small, not too many exhibits, but decent.  Great location being in Downtown Riverside.

1st phone # listed was private residence. 2d # not available. Website indicates professionals only ??? Not to bother further. General public obviously not welcome.

This is a great place to visit and take in a different type of artistry. When I went, there was a Japanese music class performing the drums and other instruments out in the Main St. area. They were very good. The museum has multiple floors to enjoy the exhibits and on the top floor there is a giant camera box room to go into and see a live picture of the buildings across the street. Very interesting and since it was free, worth spending an hour taking in.
