Their fresh-pressed apple juice is unbelievable - you must try it. During Apple Hill season, mix your apple pies with artisan booths, an active fish pond, doughnuts and coffee, and a beautiful view of El Dorado County.Try to come on weekdays - weekends can be very busy on Carson Rd.

A family friendly visitor spot. A fishing pond. Faire activities. Candies, crafts, apples, market are among the things here. One can find at minimum something for everyone. Place can get busy. Lots of unique crafts, decent food, great pastries, okay wine. People are cordial. I usually stop by the booths to see what is new. Always find something to take home. All else I pick up freshly made pastries. Good: family friendly. Bad: nothing unique or award winning. Tip: Early summer early fall visits you can avoid the large crowds and enjoy time with the family. I'm a return visitor to see what is happening.

This place was a madhouse on a Monday. Lots of craft booths selling junk, long lines for average pie, cider wasn't that great. Prices for apples and jarred jams, etc were high. I won't come back. There are smaller mom and pop places that aren't a zoo and have better food. We really enjoyed Rainbow for donuts and pie!

This is the best place to get everything you need!! They have a restaurant, gift stores, a place to fish for little kids, a fudge shop, eating area for hot drinks, homemade donuts and fritters, carmel apples, and a shop right there to buy all kinds of goodies. By far the best apple hill has to offer.

Great place for all ages. Shopping for the girls, food for the guys, plenty of room for the kids to play. Fishing pond is way too expensive, but it's fun to watch. Donuts are good. And don't miss the apple cider press-one of the few you can actually watch on the hill. The juice is delicious!

My first trip to Apple Hill and I was told to go to High Hill Ranch. There were craft booths, a fishing pond, apple donuts, apple cider, apple pie, apple milkshakes, picnic tables with umbrellas and a fudge shop on site. We spent about 3 hours and had a great time. I will definitely visit again :)

Food always great! Great Pies and other apple treats. (Hamburgers, etc.) Lots of fresh and local produce. Many crafters in the fall. Fishing for the kids to do and more. Or you can always bring a picnic lunch and sit by the lake and watch the fun. Many unique gifts for holiday giving available. Great views, bring your camera for some great memories.

quite large - lots of vendors - skip the apple pie - they don't believe in sugar apparently. there is a pond where for major $$, your child can reel in a 1 pound trout. wagon rides can be obtained through the orchard. oh hum. fudge factory or whatever they call it is ordinary.

The High hill Ranch is located in the heart of Apple Hill Country, but if you have even tried to tour Apple Hill you will know it is a lot of different roads spread out over a large area - so it is easy to miss most of it. Most people have a destination, and then maybe find something along the way in or out. Getting to High Hill Ranch is easy from US 50, but you will not pass any other ranches getting there if you take the most direct route. But make this your first stop. They have a great little town with some shops, a little pond you can sit by and have something to eat, lots of parking under the tree's, and a family run staff that cares about you. You will not be sorry. Then when you leave turn right at their entrance and you will find several other ranches and orchards just a few miles (or less) down the road. It is a great place to start your Apple Hill tour.

I have been going to High Hill Ranch for over 34 years, back when you could walk down the underground tunnel to the wine cellar. This is the place to go in all of Apple Hill. All my boys have caught their first fish here. The fishing is on the pricey side, but I always figured the memories were worth the price. Bring the camera, there are lots of places for pix. We used to buy all our baked goods here, but it got too pricey, so now I buy only what I can't make. Their cake, pies, etc are wonderful though. They have a cider barn, where you can watch the cider press. They sell their apple cider, but it tends to be a bit too sweet for my tastes. Check out Boa Vista orchards for a cider with more of a tang. The BEST thing to come to High Hill Ranch for, is the APPLE DONUTS! Oh my, are they delicious! Their carmellows are good too.

This place has it all. It's right together with the Fudge place so you get a two for one stop here. It has beautiful grounds, very pet friendly which we appreciate, and plenty of apple offerings. I tried an apple cider milk shake - good but very sweet, glad I god a small. They also had mimosa's with champagne and apple juice - tasty :) Overall a great stop and a place you can stroll and enjoy.

If you're a city dweller nice getaway. It's very touristy but fun. Go early in fall or early winter.Try and find the backroads. Real food a tad scarce. Eat in placerville.

While visiting Placerville, CA we spent an afternoon at High Hill Ranch. Just off Hwy. 50, turn onto Carson Rd., then follow the signs. It is a beautiful setting among the evergreen trees, with many craft booths to browse. You can watch the apple cider being made, as well as the apple pies. Every imaginable product made from apples can be found here! It is open 7 days a week from the beginning of Sept till Dec. 24. Fun for kids and adults, this is a great fall activity!

I have been going to High Hill Ranch every fall since I was little. Their food is delicious (Dutch Apple Pie w/ice cream is my favorite) and the little shops are so fun to look in. It's always bustling so make sure if you are driving up on the weekend to go EARLY or else you will be parking way out in the orchard. Being this busy just shows you how popular this Apple Hill is. Now that I have my own family and 1 year old girl we have continued the tradition of visiting High Hill Ranch and look forward to many, many years ahead.

We make a point of visiting High Hill Ranch every time we come to Apple Hill--mostly because of the fishing pond (and Al, the dear soul who oversees the fishing there!). The Apple Shakes and any food that has chicken that they make are excellent and a great deal for the price, too! We've gone both in low and high seasons to High Hill Ranch, and while it is expectably easier to get around there during low season, there's a nice family atmosphere there during high season (again, esp. around the fishing pond =)). Our own experience there has been that the apple stand and warm food staff have been great--friendly and helpful. Small note that there are less expensive prices for Barsotti's at other places. Nice apple walnut donuts, though.
