I drove two car loads of kids to this water park only to find out when I got there it had been closed for ten years. This used to be the only water park in san diego when I was growing up. The times I had there where great as a child. My dream of reliving my child hood through my kids have been lost. The car ride was one and half hours from san diego to get up there and back. So the water park was closed so I decide to go to the camp ground to float down the river on tubes with the kids instead. I paid 15 dollars for two cars to get in spent 20 min trying to find a spot for 8 people to hang out at. Mean while my husband was renting the inner tubes ($10 per tube). There where no places to hang out and all the tubes had been rented. We were told to wait a hour to get some old tire tubes. My husband did not like this deal at all. We all decide to leave. We were unable to get a refund for the entrance fees into the day use of the campground. $30.00 down the hole!!! No Refunds at at . they gave us a stamp for a later use. We plan to go again, but we will be bringing our own inner tubes.

We have little kids and love the smaller park atmosphere and the shorter lines of the Segme Oaks Park. Plus, the natural scenary enroute is beautiful. The park is a bit informal and could use a bit a bit better upkeep but it has its own laid back charm. The workers are always friendly and the kids always have a great time. The cost is always a better deal than other parks (particularly if you go on $5 Fridays) but park hours can be irregular so call the La Jolla Indian Reservation to make sure they are open before you make the drive. We have been back numerous times so obviously we would recommend it.
