Oroville Dam is the largest earth-filled dam in the US and holds back Lake Oroville. The dam is somewhat spectacular (it is big!) but certainly not beautiful. The visitor center was OK. We got there but the area was cloudy and we could not see much, especially the dam! There is a small tower one can climb to get a good view if the day is clear. Inside the visitor center one finds the usually stuff...explanations and dioramas. The dam was quite responsible for relieving the Upper Sacramento Valley from devasting floods...yet there was so little about this in the center (and no pictures of worth). In the back there is the obligatory Indian history room that has nothing at all to do with the dam
