With one of the most vast wineries in Northern California, Langtry is just naturally beautiful. The wine speaks for itself and the quality is amazing. Scotty took us through the whole property and really knows his wine! You definitely want him to take care of you while visiting. Although it is quite a drive away from Napa, every twist and turn is worth the experience!

The drive up is beautiful. We were greeted by Cliff who was generous with the wine and his time. We tasted 6 or 7 wines, all very good. Then Cliff gave us a tour of the facility, Very knowledgable and fun. We bought a few bottles and spent time looking at the beautiful views and talking with (I can't remember his name) about the 1 week old lamb that we pet and played with outside the vineyard. A very relaxing day.

We had a private tasting, just by luck. The red wines were especially delicious and we even bought a case. The setting is beautiful and the service was very good.

This is a photo op par excellence. The views are breathtaking and the wines are delightful. There is a terrific picnic area that overlooks the valley which is the perfect setting to sip wine and enjoy your lunch. It doesn't get any better than this.

The whole gang there must have come from the same comic gene pool, especially Cliff and Scotty, and others whose names I can't recall. But I do recall being very impressed with most of their reds. Their port, even tho I'm not a port fan, was surprisingly different--no heavy lingering sweetness--gives you plenty of flavor before it slams the door shut on your tastebuds. I even bought a couple of bottles for friends.

I had high hopes for our visit to Langtry Estate and Vineyards -- and our visit surpassed those hopes! Definitely worth the 40-minute, very twisty drive on Highway 29 from Calistoga. Great to get beyond the bustle of the Napa Valley and into the country of Lake County. Jose was our host for a delightful two hours ... behind-the-scenes tour, generous tasting, tour of a very small part of the 22,000 acre estate, and finally a delightful, gourmet picnic in the vineyards on Tephra Ridge. We came because we like the Langtry petite sirah. But we sipped -- and bought -- some other wines, too. We hope to return to Langtry with family and friends -- and will make the Tephra Ridge tour part of the experience.

Take an amazingly beautiful ride six miles to the Langtry Estate-- Yes, as in Lillie Langtry-- and you will not be disappointed. You will encounter the winery on the left, set above the Guernoc valley. Enjoyed the history and the wine tasting, as well.
