We'd read the reviews and we're looking forward to lunch on your way to Yosemite. I'd been there before and remember lots of people and a good time. Of the 3 of us, 2 felt ill all afternoon (had burger and bison burger) and the third never ate her sandwich (grilled geese with mushy turkey on the inside and the cheese crusty and cold on the outside. Gross). The waitress was super crabby because she was so "busy" (the place was practically empty). The interior was silly - nothing special. Didn't give it the lowest possible because the fries were good. Suggest you hit the Mexican restaurant across the street instead.

This place is terrible. The saloon looks cool. We got there and they put us in this awful room that is adjacent to the saloon. The chairs were broken and misatched. It was a hot mess. No one was serving us. We asked if we could go to the saloon side and just wait for a table. They got annoyed and said no one took our order because the kitchen isn't taking food orders for 30 minutes so they can catch up. If I'm going to sit there and wait in a dirty hole for 30 minutes the chair can't have the springs showing. PS. Don't get me started on that salad bar.

We was staying in Groveland for 4 nights as we explored Yosemite.Came here every night for a late meal - and were never disappointed. This pub/saloon, like the rest of Groveland, has a long history and it's been decorated inside with a whole bunch of memorabilia to gice it a special character. (See pics) There must be $1,000 stuck to the ceiling.Seems live music, certainly on weekends, is the norm. We lucked-in to the freebie ZZ Top cover/tribute band that appeared both Saturday and Sunday night we were there. They was very ggod. Also there was going to be a Creedence tribute band due to appear a couple of weeks later, (with a cover charge).Other than that - the bar is well stocked, warm and has a friendly staff.Food is unpretentious, what you'd expect, and prices typical - no complaints from me.If you're staying in Groveland you won't regret a visit - you never know, if it's a weekend, you could get live music as well.

The food is good. It is the usual type of bar food but the burger selection is large and varied and comes out very tasty. Nice selection of beer fun atmosphere nice people.

Always good food, good drinks, and great entertainment - The owners are well connected to the entertainment industry and it really shows in the quality of performers there.

For small town, sleepy Groveland, the town rocks at the Iron door. Food in the bar and restaurant is always great, Chris the boss man rocks when he isn't doing his MMA, and they always seem to have a rockin' band on the weekends.

The service in the restaurant was terrible, too young and unexperienced, they ignored us. We were the first in but the last being served. They said we had to wait for 15 minutes but we had to wait for more than one hour. The restaurant wasn't so crowded.

My experience at the Iron Door was very wild ,I was w/ the last person to ride their horse through the bar [Tammy]she told me about her experiences at the door as she was born in the town of Groveland. They claim that it is the oldest saloon in the united states and I really believe them [1852]

Last night at the Iron Door's karaoke extravaganza we experienced a true talent exploding on stage with energy and charisma. After opening with a refreshing country upbeat song, Abram sang CELEBRATION; he literally brought the house down. If you plan your visit to the saloon when he's performing, you'll make your day, week, year, millenium.Watch for him in every entertainment venue you come across! You won't forget him. Animal Abram had them begging for more. He had to leave to rest after displaying and inspiring unrelentless entertainment magic.Alex says... he's the competition...

Yes, you can find all of the aforementioned things at the Iron Door Saloon plus, the wrong or padded bills if you are not paying attention. The chairs don't fit the tables, and it is probably a good idea to bring your own silverware as if it is not already on the table, you can just forget it, just like the water to drink. The service there is spotty at best and the food is okay. Yes it is an historic building, but the ordeal we have met on several occasions is not worth a return trip.

The Iron Door Saloon has live bands on weekends and has a regular concert series with musicians of some fame! We have even enjoyed Eddie Money in this little mountain town on the way to Yosemite. Thursday is Karaoke night bringing out a mulit-generational crowd of local talent."The Door" always seems to have something going on and is the place to meet interesting people from all over the world over a pint of ice-cold beer!
