For starters I rarely give one star... there not much point as most people, at least l do, ignore them as they are people that are just ranting and have had odd experiences. Butttt....I Played Salt Creek about 3 years ago and had a great time. Great course!... I live n San Diego but the farthest south I play would be Balboa.. Well,.. I played Salt Creek yesterday and it was SO SAD... I hate to see courses that are destitute and in states of disrepair... and that was the care. I'd heard that Salt Creek was having major problems with water rights and allocations. I'd forgotten about it until I showed up yesterday. Worse course conditions I've every seen at any course EVER. The first 50 yards of any fairway are just dirt and rock... I'm not talking dried grass - but actual dirt and rock. All the water features are bone dry and the T boxes are hammered. The trees still get water but thats it. This was a beautiful course once... now I can't even fathom the millions it will take to get it back in shape. I will never play there again... So sad. Put it this way ... it makes the Balboa 18 look tropical.

Challenging course especially if wind is blowing like it was the day i played.Nice mountain/links style course. Greens in good shape. The rough needed some watering though.Bob Crowly was the nicest most friendly and accomodating marshall ever. Thanks Bob!

Salt Creek Golf Course is great fun. It is a links course with challenging holes. Under new ownership, the course is in great shape. The clubhouse has excellent food. The driving range has been renovated. It is a unique course at a reasonable rate.

My brother-in-law booked us at Salt Creek midweek through GolfNow.com at just $32 per, including cart. It's the best $32 course I've ever played, in better than average shape and with some great challenges. The designer was not on a land budget as it's laid out over a great expanse, fitting well into the natural environment. Very quiet and lots of wildlife and views to enjoy. Just 25 minutes from downtown San Diego.

Good Mid Week Value, $35 GreeN Fees After 2 Pm For 18 Holes. Drawback Is Its Under High Power Lines, But Course Itself Is Relatively Challenging. Lost Lots Of Balls In Vegetation. Great Views And Fairways And Greens Are Well Groomed. Rabbits And Squirrels Are Literally Everywhere, Kind Of StrangeActually. Overall Outstandin Value For The Money. Had A Great time.
