For a serene getaway, take a nature walk through these natural acres of open space. Dogs, horses and bicycles are allowed. A myriad of trails, so I take different combinations weekly. One may see hawks soaring about half the time. If a hot summer day, it's best to enjoy before 9 am or after 5 pm! Walk in before sunset, watch it from atop a rock on a hill and leave before dark, any month of the year. Good for couples, solo, families or small groups. Please respect the environment, all species.

Wright's Field... A cool quick get away....I was amazed to find a place close in to the city where I could enjoy an afternoon hiking on well groomed trails while enjoying the various flora and mountain views. I no longer find it necessary to drive up to the local mountains to get a breath of mountain air in an all rural setting. Wright's Field has most all the natural splendors afforded in the east county without the long drive. Also, I found after a serious workout, there are a number of good watering holes and eateries within a few minutes of Wright's Field.

After my wife and I decided we needed to move away from the excesive heat in Imperial Valley we started looking for a place near San Diego but where we could be in constant contact with nature. We love hiking, photography and walking or dog. After some research we found about Wright's Field and we decided to move to Alpine and try our luck. Best decision ever! This place is deceitful, while it looks simple at first walking around and a little bit of attention allow you to discover unique native especies of flowers and grasses - some of which are currently near extinction! Additionally there are traces of different cultures and times including grinding holes from native americans, a stone well from the first settlers and an amazing rock wall that is quite unusual.Another great thing about Wright's Field is the fact that it is bicycle, horse and dog friendly! (No off road vehicles!) People are extremely friendly and is a great place to go jogging or take a simple walk. For amazing views make sure to visit around the sunset time, simply amazing!
