We were married in Valley of Fire several years ago, and we'd driven past the museum many times over the years without really paying much attention. One year, after a long day exploring yet another corner of the VoF area, we pulled in on a whim... oops, they closed at 4:30, but it looks interesting...So this year we planned it backwards: Overton WMA in the morning followed by a visit to the museum, then lunch at Inside Scoop before hitting VoF.The Lost City Museum tells the story of the original Pueblo inhabitants of the valley. The inside has numerous fascinating artifacts (the baskets they made are amazing) and a timeline going back thousands of years. Much of the content was saved from the ruins just before the valley was inundated by Lake Meade. Outside the building there are life-size reconstructions of the ancestral Pueblo homes and a very nice little shaded picnic area.The gift shop is excellent, with a little something for everybody, from shiny things to baseball caps to Native crafts. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is an entrance fee, but it's only $5 and well worth it.

Nice museum built around an archaeological site with lots of artifacts from the area. They have an archaeologist on site for any questions. In addition, they have reconstructed the pueblo adobe homes for the museum.

This was a very nice stop after The Valley of Fire, a cool welcome brake. The Museum is not large but well worth the time.The staff was very helpful with our questions.

very enjoyable. see the movie in the screening room which will give you the base for a very enjoyable time at this museum. it gives the exhibits life an then when you walk outside the Moapa Valley changes in what you see.

Stopped at the Lost City Museum after a day trip to the Vally of Fire State Park. I was not sure what to expect from this museum, but I am very happy I stopped in. They had a ton of educational facts & stories. My 8 year old wasn't that into the museum, but my wife and I really enjoyed it! Everyone should stop in and check out the Museum!

Enjoyed thru all the displays at the museum, especially after hiking around the ruins of St. Thomas. There are many fascinating displays. I also like the gift shop and was able to buy some authentic Native American made items quite reasonable.

I'm pleased to see that this fab little museum has mostly received excellent reviews. I was dumb-founded when I read a review that rated it terrible - did they actually go there or perhaps they visited someplace else? Anyway, being from New Zealand and not knowing a lot about the local history and archaeology, we found this museum to have well laid-out exhibits, which were informative and enlightening. The craft work on display were stunning, and there was an excellent shop with quality items to purchase. The young gentleman at the reception was knowledgeable and very polite. Outside was a model "Pueblo" (houses made of adobe and wood), which gave an idea as to what the accommodation was like. You only need about ½ hour to visit – would really recommend.

We discovered this little place by accident along a detour. It drew us in with the host of outside attractions, and kept us going with the wonderfully laid out displays on the inside. There is so much to learn there that will take several visits to take it all in and learn the true history of this part og the southwest United States.

Great history of the Moapa Valley area and the Ancestral Puebloans and the Mormon settlers here. Original building with floors from the rocks at Valley of Fire State Park. Recreations of the lost city also.

We were dried through Overton on our last trip from Mesquite to Las Vegas. We say the sign for the museum and decided it would be a good stop. It didn't disappoint! They have some very nice artifacts, rush duck decoys, bread work, water vessels, pottery, and other pieces from the Anasazi time. When I first walked in I thought oh. .. just a few cases in this 20 x 30 room. I thought the rest was dedicated to the gift shop. I was wrong. . There is a good amount of displays and then outside they have a replica of a few of the living environments.

Artifacts tell stories of the people who traveled through and lived in Southern Nevada for thousands of years with a primary focus on the Anasazi. Very quiet museum off the beaten path. Curators had time to answer any and all questions. Excellent gift shop with no sales tax!

We just couldnt get into this place, and we went a ways out of our way to get there. All the guide books for the area and "must see" states this is one of those places. I'm here to tell you dont waste your time, which is more important than the $5.00 bucks. Since they only charge $5.00 that should of been a sign as nothing is cheap in the area.

We took a small side trip through the Lake Mead Nevada State Park & visited this place which was recommended to by our friends. This museum has a vast collection of Native American artifacts & shows how they lived thousands of years ago until the area was settled by pioneers. A vast archeological site was discovered in this area. The State of Nevada has wisely preserved this site & constructed some model dwellings similar to those that the early inhabitants . It is a real bonus that this area was protected because a lot of the surrounding area was once flooded when the Hoover Dam was constructed. The water levels in the lake Mead Reservoir are greatly reduced in recent years, thus exposing some of the early historic artifacts. We would recommend this site to anyone who is interested in the early inhabitants of this area. Another "must see" as far as we are concerned.

If you like pieces of pottery and sticks, then this is the place for you. I thought that it would be an exhibit of the town that was displaced by the Hoover Dam. There was an Indian settlement there many many years ago, like 100's of years before.There is nothing in the town and thankfully it was only $5 per person admission. We drove from Vegas to this museum which is about 1.5 hours away. Disappointed.
