Take a break in your travels and visit the Sentinel Museum behind the Courthouse at 10 N. Monroe Street. You can spend a little time or a lot of time there, and it will be well worth it! The bottom floor is the old Sentinel Newspaper location and is a treasure trove to walk through. Time was stopped when the paper shutdown, and you can see all the history from typesetting by hand to Linotype with steam presses. But wait!-- then you can go upstairs to a whole other museum for the same entrance fee. The County Museum has mining, military and an early Nevada Home life display. They have a souvenir shop, and friendly staff. Learn about Nevada's history in one stop.
