You are going to have a hard time, but the views are awesome, and worth every scratch in my body. I propose to my now fiancee there and it was worthit... we almost did not make it, but we have an amazing time.

The McKenzie River trail is rated the best mountain bike trail in the USA, by several mountain biking web sites. The trail is 27 miles long and follows the beautiful McKenzie river. Scenery includes the wild rushing river, waterfalls, a blue pool and old growth forests. A shuttle is available to transport you and your bike from the bottom of the trail to the top. Novices and intermediate mountain bikers should exit the shuttle well before the top. There are many difficult passages through lava fields. Most bikers carry their bikes through these areas. You can avoid the lava fields entirely by exiting the shuttle at the blue pool parking lot, forest road 2672-655. The shuttle costs $30 per person. From here, the trail is 15.2 miles of single track heaven. There are a few rock falls and ledges where a novice will want to walk. The trail follows the river closely so the mb is treated to many nice views of the wild river. This trail should not be attempted by anyone that has not done some mountain biking elsewhere. There are few exit points and a long walk out if you have a problem. Bring plenty of water. I used two large water bottles and ran out near the bottom.
