Thank you for reviewing. For some folks, transportation history seems obtuse and out there but here at WAAAM we do our best to have visitors understand what they are seeing so that they do not get overwhelmed by the size of the collection. As an added bonus, having a still-operational collection helps bring the place alive too.

Thanks for the review. It is important for us to try an impart in kids an appreciation for all the "old stuff" found in the museum. Our interactive learning center is a great way to help engage them in experiencing first hand some of the odd quirks that come with the technology of the past.

Thank you for the review. Word of mouth is the number one way people find out about WAAAM so thanks to your friends for telling you and thanks to you for telling all the folks on Tripadvisor!

Thanks for the review. Here at WAAAM we do our best to have something that can engage anyone and everyone - fortunately transportation history is a very big topic so we can have a large number of interesting side items in addition to our airplanes and automobiles.

Thank you for the review. We love showing off our living history on the Second Saturday of every month. It is one thing to know nearly all of the WAAAM collection still drives and still flies but another thing entirely to see it with your own eyes and experience the action for yourself.

Thank you for the review. We love keeping our airplanes and automobiles in flying and driving condition because it helps people appreciate the history a bit more. It takes a lot less imagination to think about history (or driving from Portland to Hood River on the old highway) when you know what it is like to ride in a Model T or other antique or classic vehicle.

Thank you for reviewing. On the Second Saturday of every month we fly and drive our collection. For the 2014 November Second Saturday we honored our veterans and active duty military as a part of the event so they received complimentary admission. Upon occasion we have other fun deals throughout the year but always make sure to check before you arrive. We'd hate for you to be disappointed in anything.

Thanks for the review. We love showing people transportation history - this includes not only our airplanes and automobiles but also the associated artifacts that people would have brought with them, made an impact on their travels, or enabled them to get out there and enjoy the road or sky even more. Our old artifacts are part of what help make the museum interesting for all ages.

Thank you for reviewing. One of the neat things about having a living history museum full of airplanes and automobiles is when they get to go out and get a little exercise. This usually happens during one of our Second Saturday events but every once in a while we just can't pass up the chance.

Thank you for reviewing. At WAAAM we do our best to integrate many levels of history about our collection for visitors to enjoy. Between our videos, personal stories about a particular item, or information about the role an item has played in history, there is never any shortage of interesting things to discover about our collection.

Thanks for the review. Our founder managed to amass 42 airplanes before starting up WAAAM. His donation, along with many other individuals, has made the collection what it is today - over 275 airplanes, automobiles, motorcycles, etc strong and counting.

Thank you for reviewing. Occasionally some folks do have problems finding the museum despite us being only 3 miles from the freeway. One of the best aids we have found is to remind people that we are right at an airport and therefore they should look for a large flat space with no trees (which happens to be just on the edge of town). Some days our 4 signs (if your coming from either Portland or the Dalles) just don't seem to cut it.

Thanks for the review. Here at WAAAM we have just over 2.5 acres of indoor display space for our collection. In addition to this area we also have several other storage hangars and a restoration shop on site but these are only open during special events like our Second Saturdays.

Thanks for the review. Here at the museum we often like to joke that the acronym of our name, WAAAM short for the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum, is actually the sound effect people would use when they get in to our exhibit halls if life were scripted like a cartoon. Many who come late in the day choose to quickly go through just so they don't miss out.

Thank you for the review. Many people have a hard time believing in the quality and scope of the collection we have at WAAAM before they visit us. Our cars, planes, motorcycles and more ensure that there is something for everyone to enjoy. The Model T Driving School is also a fantastic way for us to really remind people that here at WAAAM we have living history.
