It's a nice, clean, grassy off leash park to take your best bud. Good fencing so the speed demon dogs aren't tempted to go for height. Over all nice dog parents socializing and watching the dogs play. The only thing I don't like is the parking. It's pretty limited and you may have to park on the street.

The dog park is big and the setting is nice, with the Hillsboro stadium just across the street so it has an expansive feel. Lots of responsible dog owners walking their dogs. There's a hill and a path around it in a circle, with plenty of rooms for the dogs. Lots of garbage cans :-)Only bad side is in the summer it is so popular that the garbage cans stink on hot days.

We've been to Hondo a couple of times and have seen dog owner spending more time talking at the top of the hill and not watching their dogs. One visit we witnessed a dog attack another one that was just sitting by her owner on a bench. Then the owner of the dog that attacked acted like it was the other dogs fault. People don't obey the size limits and they bring their small dogs into the large dog area and this has causes problems. Since the park is very nice, it becomes very crowded and the parking is minimal and way too many dogs.I guess like a lot of other dog owners in the area, we've found a dog park just off Farmington Road in Aloha. Most of the people who take their dogs to this park have found Hondo to really be a poor choice for a dog park. Sure, Hondo is large with lush grass, but the big hill in the middle of the park is only good for people to congregate and talk, but not for keeping an eye on their dog...

We have been to this park many times and the park itself is amazing! Running water with a winter and summer side all fenced in so the doggies can run and have fun. It is better to go in the morning or you are more than likely to deal with a bunch of snotty people who think you and your dog's are doing everything wrong and they are always right. Tonight after a nice play date, my 2 fur babies and I were getting ready for home which takes awhile for us. We got to our car and immediately a lady started beeping and beeping and beeping her car horn (literally) mind you I get it there is limited parking however there is plenty of overflow parking space which they have a sign for. I have two rescue special needs dogs so I am trying to one lift my 120 pound fur baby in since she can not get in herself then giving them extra water to make sure they feel ok for the 30 min drive home and also putting the address we are going to into the gps all the time beep beep beep. Not the first time something like this has happened. Be respectful you never know what someone in the other car is going through. Thanks for stressing us out.

Two sides to this park for bad weather days make all the difference. The puppy parents that visit this park tend to be the ones that really clean up after their pets and take pride in keeping a nice place for them to play. Generally very friendly group with a lack of "jerk" owners. you know what I'm talking about. The know it alls and the aggressive punishers do not generally frequent this park. Lots of green open spaces and even a smaller fenced off area for the little guys that might be afraid of the bigger dogs. Plenty of clean up bags around the park as well as disposal bins.

Nice dog park in newer part of Hillsboro. Separate areas for small dogs. Big enough for the canines to roam on their own or socialize. Parking can be tricky if busy. Signs show you where the overflow parking is located. Adjacent to Hillsboro stadium.

They open the main grassy park seasonally, which is late spring, through Fall. During the winter, they close the main park - I guess to protect the grass during the wet mucky winter - and they make you use the small fence 'sand lot'. If you want your dog running around in sand, that's fine. The main park is big enough to let your dog run and frolick. It can get overcrowded, especially on nice days when people make it family day out and bring blankets and stuff to sit on in the park. why people want to have family gathering or picnics in a dog park on poopy peed on grass is beyond me.

We have traveled to several places in the NW and by far this is the nicest dog park. Nice big area for smaller dogs. Lawn was well kept and clean running water. I wish other dog parks were kept up as well as this one.

It's an ok place that is gated/fenced in. Not as big as others that I've seen. But does have an area for difference size dogs, and a pee- gravel area for winter time. Parking can really suck sometimes. FREE- which makes value excellent

Hondo is a well manicured park, with plenty of 'doggie stations' and running water. Clean, running water...not a hose bib in the mud. Set up differently than the fenced off field with mud and scrub grass, it's an oasis with trees (that will grow big one day), berms and dales that are surrounded by a gravel walking path and clean benches. There are 3 areas: 2 grassy areas as just described one for big dogs and one for little dogs and another 'winter' area that's pea gravel, with ramps, and tunnels when Portland gets its rainy weather. A shelter for the winter area is in the process of being built, so we don't have to stand in the rain. Here's the best part of the park: the dogs and people are nice. Have you ever gone to a dog park and had your dog get mauled and all the owner says from afar "Oh Fido, please don't do that" in their best Donna Reed voice? Yeah. Me too. I don't go back to those parks. Hondo is a far cry from that. The owners are friendly and approachable. Little kids, well supervised, go too, and really don't get pummeled by the dogs. (I'm sure the odd mishap happens, but you are taking your little one into a dog park. Responsible parenting goes without saying) All in all, it's a great place to take your dog. Parking is good and there is an overflow area if it's really crowded.

Hillsboro Oregon's Hondo Dog Park is a nice place to take your pup for an off leash adventure. There are three separate areas. The large main yard has grassy knolls for the pups to run on, and a walking path and benches for the humans. There is a smaller yard is for small or timid dogs. The third area is all gravel for the winter months when Oregon's lovely rains turn the grassy areas soggy. They are currently building a shelter in the winter area so the humans can stay dry while the dogs romp. The grassy summer areas are open dawn to dusk. The winter area does have lighting since it is dark so early that time of the year. Closed Monday and Thursday mornings for maintenance....check website for any seasonal changes to the hours or days. Free parking at the site or across the street at the recreation complex. It does get crowded on weekends and right after work on summer weekdays.

I love taking my shih tzu puppy here. She loves running around with out being attacked by bigger dogs. It's great that they have a separate area for small dogs.

After driving for 2 days from California we needed a place for our 3 year old Golden-Doodle to work off some excess energy. The Hondo Dog Park was conveniently located to our hotel. There is plenty of parking. The park is completely fenced, with a special fenced-in section for smaller dogs. It is green and clean and drinking water is available in the park for the dogs. The park also has benches for the 2 legged animals. Overall, a great place to let the dogs romp.
